I'm thinking about an agile lp versus an epiphone
Which one?

I have rocked both over the years. Epi was a main gigging guitar for a while and after a pickup swap, was quite solid. Not a single complaint. The Agile was the same way. Swapped pickups and it was pretty dang good. The head stock shape always threw me off a bit though. I would buy another for a beater in a second though.

And the Agile was a lowly 2000 series.

I can't speak for the LP's but I had one of their PRS clones for a long time, "PS-900" I think? It was a great guitar, but I personally couldn't get used to the neck profile. Little too fat for my tastes. Other than that it played great and sounded great after putting in a gibson 500T. In fact it was set up nearly perfect straight out of the box. For a korean-made beater, I was pretty impressed.

I had never played an Agile up until a few weeks ago. A bandmate brought one in for me to check out. I was impressed with the feel of it. Seemed solid, felt okay. Needed heavier strings. I think they'd be really nice with tuner and pickup swaps.

Although, it did turn my fingers black -- the fingerboard color seemed to be wearing off on my hand.

I had an Agile double-neck. It was a great guitar for the money.

I have an AL3000 that plays really good. In fact I had two, but sold one. It's definitely a solid guitar for the money. I upgraded the electronics and PUP's and am very happy with it. The one I still have is the "Root Beer" colored one on the right. There is a Dimarzio 36th PAF in the neck and a Suhr Aldrich in the bridge (which has since been changed). The ugly spot under the tailpiece is from a light above.

I'd go with an Epi Paul. Replace the hardware and pickups to taste and your good!

I'd get the Agile and change the pups. I own about 11 of the 3xxx series ones.

THat root beer….

I've owned one of the 2nd gen "lawsuit" AL-2000 guitars for a few years now (lawsuit headstock but not the older ones with the lawsuit horn). Love the thing. Sometimes gets played ahead of my PRS SE 245. I put a set of GFS Crunchy PAT pickups in it, and to my ears gets a pretty decent vintage sound.

Smh... This thread is why I tend to stay off the boards most of the time... I bought an AL-2000 last night because if this lol

LOL!!! The power of..some weird kind of peer pressure :)

I have an Agile 8 string.i like it. My first 8. Wont need another. Got rid of an LTD 7 cuz i can do on the 8 what i could do on the 7. Seems they do come with too light a string guage.

Pups are OK. But an upgrade wouldnt hurt. Bridge is ok,seems cheap. Prolly is. But the damn thing stays in tune. And thats what matters.loooks and feel are good. I would buy another Agile if needed. I just dont need another guitar.

Lots of pro/con chatter on the sevenstring forum.

Im happy with my purchase, have it almost a year. No problems. Changing 8 strings sucks.

One of the many reasons I can't play more than a 6 string… I am just so painfully lazy
