This such a fucking epic interview, and I think Alan speaks very clearly and for a lot of us in this interview.

I think the main point is that it isn't just metal; ALL culture and art has been ruined. Movies, TV, video games, everything.

metal jumped the shark 10+ maybe even 20+ years ago. It has rules, for looks, sounds, tempos, arrangements, sections, tunings, etc., like other old stale genres that have become caricatures of themselves, such as blues, jazz, hard rock, metal,...

the self-appointed "keepers of the genre rules" and their legions of genre fan minions will punish anyone who steps outside of the deified rarified realm of rules that define what is acceptable / not acceptable in the genre, effectively destroying any attempts at innovation.

no thanks. but it's funny in a cringey way...especially when the purveyors take themselves seriously not realizing it makes them seem even more clownish and pathetic caricatures.
