I finally listened to Slipknot’s The End, So Far. It sounds like it could be good. But was the sound neutered after We Are Not Your Kind?

I am upset. This is one of my favourite bands, and I think Clown said this was going to be a “God” album?

You can even hear how neutered it is on Spotify. I am angry. I was promised God sounds, and all I got was band neutered sounds.

Ugh.

Slipknots first album is a masterpiece. Does Ross Robinson still do albums? Man he had a killer run.

Maybe I have it wrong, Maybe We Are Not Your Kind was their God album, and Clown got it wrong.

But there’s always Iowa and their self titled debut. But WANYK is just so hard, Who knows,

“Let him pray, go back to hell where you belong”. And I’m paraphrasing.

Slipknot is a solid and interesting band in many respects...But they are inconsistent in terms of the quality of their product.

My thoughts when listening to Slipknot are usually “turn this shit off”

Haha, old man, you’re like me, I didn’t give a damn to Slipknot till 2012. Then I got into it. Gve a listen to Unsainted and Solway Firth from their last great alhum (imho). And the. Check out gems like Psychosocial. One of the most consequential bands of the last 20 years, bud,

Think that’s true of all bands of the last 30 years, sadly. Just 2-4 good songs, then filler.

I like volume 3 and all hope best . Death metal influences showed up . I still like the first 2 albums but all 00120032 riffs get boring

I'm actually fairly new to Slipknot. Wrote them off all these years. Now I'm a huge fan. Seen them 3 times so far. Have not listened to new album (forgot they even had one) but We Are Not Your Kind album is good shit.

i actually knew of them before they blew up, there was already a band called Slipknot in my area that i believe had a independent release out, when it came out "Slipknot" signed with roadrunner i think it was we all thought it was our slipknot. I actually did like their first album quite a bit, it just came out when i was 16 or so and entrenched in "real" death metal and i just thought they were kind of a novelty for people in the midwest. after that album though it was a steady decline for me, i saw them a bunch of times and like their albums their shows were a muddy mess to me :dunno:

i will say though, it was absolutely fun watching this live. i still laugh as i did that first time watching boner nose jerk his nose off

Volume three is a very strong record. Good blend of raw aggression, memorable melodies and well placed hooks...A path they should have stayed closer to in my opinion.

Maybe god was neutered in order to prevent him from breeding other gods ?

I actually like all hope is gone a lot . More technical

I'm not a fan of the band and really only dig two of their songs but have some friends that loved them after seeing them live. Always thought it'd be cool to see Mick Thomson in a death metal band as the dude is a fan (he's got an Immolation tattoo) and can definitely play:

^^Always dug his white Ibanez model, too (save for the "SEVEN" inlay)

Never let the guy who's only talent is beating on beer kegs run the band. Also looks like Joey Jordison's estate is suing the band.

This album has got death metal riffs here and there
