Anybody have any details on the "Aldrich" mod?

I would really like to try it in the Marshall type amp I'm building for fun.

I believe it is a 4 gain stage with no cathode follower. Fun to see a schematic but know that is not going to happen.

Rock on.

You might want to try asking on the Metro forum.

They're not 4 gain stages though. Everything is blacked out on the one I have from Martin Golub. It's only 4 tubes. Input, 2nd stage, 3rd/CF, PI. I have a tube driven FX loop in this one, so there is a tube for the loop. He adds the input tube socket and moves all the input to there, then so on. Beefs up the heater heater circuit so it stays nice and quiet.

Cameron isn't adding a tube for his, or atleast not on mine. some people claim the Aldrich amps are brighter, and i agree from my experience. mines a 50watter, but it's pretty short on low end.

at first mine had some wow factor and i thought it was the best one ever, but over the long haul i think the Jose mods would be more of a keeper for me.

as mentioned Martin Golub is doing a pretty cool mod, i don't remember it being short on low end, but it was damn sure a flame thrower. it started out with boatloads of gain and went up from there.

Copy that guy's. Thanks for the insite so far. Interesting that Steve you say that your amp still has the CF over V3 and only 3 gain stages... I bet it is very open sounding.

I can see that I'm going to have a really tough time getting any spec's(understandably) but it is always fun to hear what people think or findings owning the amp.

i've heard it makes your hair long and shiny and flowing and makes all your pants fit tight and replaces all your t-shirts with leather vests.

Keep in mind Steve's is a Golub not a Cameron. The Golub Mod is a completely different thing and bears zero resemblance to the Cameron circuit :)

I wonder if Suhr's version is different the Golub's?

There are some differences between them yeah  But the Suhr and Golub are very similar in design, whereas the Cameron is a totally different circuit.

A very good overdrive/ distortion device/ resistors/diodes placed before a master volume marshall. Mike Soldano did it with the HOT Mod long before Mark Cameron

Yeah but the hot mod sounded like shit.

I always wanted to try a hot mod just to play around with, theres a guy on ebay who is making them again that are supposed to be the same as the soldano original.

I've still got one of those Hot Mods. The biggest issue with those was the ground strap.

Cheers,
Mike

I liked the Hot Mod. Another big problem with them is finding a good tube to put in them. The tube they used is hard to find in good shape these days. Ampeg V4 uses that tube and probably 90% of them I have ordered were junk.

this thing isnt remotely close to anything mark has done or prob will do. Totally different.
