Aldrich Out of Whitesnake

Whitesnake was washed up decades ago. Nobody but a fill-in player will take his spot. As for his future, I'm sure there are a few 80's has-been acts looking for a fill-in player, which is all the guy is and all he'll ever be. Maybe Nightranger or some other Quiet Riot type band. If not, there is always McDonalds.

Whitesnake has not been relevant since the late 80's. The newer stuff is well meh!! Good to see Doug move on though!! Maybe he can hook up with Jorn and make some awesome music!!

I'd like to see Doug play with trans-Siberian orchestra. All those players are badass

Interesting. I'm not sure that DC will be able to find someone who was such a perfect fit. Wish Doug well

i thought doug was a perfect fit for WS.i have a few DVDs.and the CDs.Forevermore was a lil sappy for my tastes song-wise.but great playing on it for sure.im sad about the departure myself.even though i like Pre-still of the night WS the best.

i just got the BR disc but havent lisened to it yet.
at this point,i thnk WS is dead.not a RB fan at all.tours are fine,i dont need any more sappy songs tho.so a Sykes return, wouldnt be valid for me.
the DeMartini opinion, just may not be far-fetched.
Vai will never go back to WS.i love Vai,but his WS album is terrible.imo.

hope everythng works out for Doug.

Yel Ozzy crosed my mind as well. Honestly i hope Doug does something original

Yep maybe he will do something original --thats what Ive always wanted to hear from him his own band

I love Demartini but I don't think he was that great a fit for WS. His style , feel, and timing just didn't seem to really dazzle like it does in Ratt. See for yourself, Warren likes to let notes breathe between licks and doesn't really do the shred runs all that much:

The sound is also HORRIBLE here but hey that's what happens sometimes live depending on the venue and how this was recorded. I do remember watching this on Italian TV when I lived in Italy and Pride and Glory was awesome so not sure what happened with the levels here.

I really doubt DA will do an original project. He has a wife and a young child so risking it all on a solo project would be foolish, and Burning Rain will never have too much success, they were more of a fill in when WS was off.

He'll wind up in one of the few touring bands left. Ozzy would be perfect, at least he could make some decent money with him but seriously how much longer does Ozzy have? He's in even worse shape than Coverdale. DA needs to play live as I don't think he earns very much on writing royalties from WS. The albums he made with them hardly sold and honestly overall they were pretty bad. DA is strictly a player, he's not much of a writer, actually neither is Coverdale. I mean his best stuff was with Bernie Marsdon and John Sykes. BM was an excellent writer and a good guitarist but more old school and JS was/is an excellent writer, virtuoso guitarist and amazing singer! Yet Coverdale is the guy who makes all the money and has the most notoriety! Let's face it DC is a business man first, always looking out for number one.

Anyways, tough times for guitar heroes these days. I really hope things work out for DA, he is an AWESOME guitarist and I love his playing.

Doug is currently playing in the Vegas show Raiding the Rock Vault. Not sure if that's why he left WS or not, but it may give him a steady gig with no travel that may be appealing with a family at home.

Opera Winfrey can act a bit, but she's no singer.

Forevermore is the highlight of Doug's career; brilliant in places.

To be the main player in WS you need the image, and you need to be a great writer.
I can see Reb being moved on too. I'd prefer it as a one guitar band, but that's unlikely.
Seeing Sykes on TMS you can rule out any reunion there.

I see a massive opportunity for the Simon Cowell machine to get in on this; "Whitesnakes got talent". 74 guitarists audition before J-Lo, Keith urban & Coverdale for the new lead guitarist position.

I wonder how many people actually knew Whitesnake was still a band...

yet another thread dumper from the Twitter generation that think it is fine to badmouth behind their alter ego
if you haven't anything interesting/positive/humorous to say you can just as easily keep quiet under your hoodie

judging by them still selling out the Hammersmith Odeon any time they like, there are plenty WS fans of all ages
of the thousands of gigs I've attended, Coverdale is in my top vocal performances witnessed. the man is a class act.

Dave and Doug were a great creative match.

THAT sums it up for me ;)

The big tours must be awesome in that you are playing arenas most nights and touring the world. The downside is time away from family, money isn't great either.
Maybe the Vegas show is a regular wage, gets to play with a host of other guesting musicians and more time with the family. Just look at how many pics of Doug and young Ryder have popped up lately. There's been loads so they must be having a blast together.
Plus Doug still has Burning Rain for his creative side, Steamroller for fun, loose, jam type gigs and his guitar clinics.

Who knows ?
