Might as well.... not that Reb couldn't handle a lot of the lead duties but his tapping everything might take away from some of the leads. Pretty sure they can find a hired gun to do the job. The whole formula is getting a bit old at this point though, Coverdale's voice is gone. Anyone who points me to the latest live video release, please note that Coverdale goes back in the studio to retouch most of his "live" vocals.. I personally think some of these guys should cut down the touring schedule to preserve what little voice they have left. That's just me though. A nice compromise between still putting on live shows but not completely disappointing when you do.

I agree... I don't know why all the opera singers can belt it out even in old age but some of these younger rock guys lose it like this. Maybe its in the training (or lack there of)... coverdale sounded great on that last album but live he was straining

It would take someone who knows more about vocal training than the bit i have dabbled in but I would think it is a few things.. for one, natural talent and ability that a lot of Oprah singers possess, the WAY they sing and the techniques used are studied and practice to preserve their voices and allow them not to strain, and the fact that Oprah is not Rock. Rock singing is one of the harder styles on the vocal chords because of the tendency to "distort" some sounds and notes so they sound more well.... "rock". Think of Sebastian Bach...used to sound so damn good with those screamin highs... takes it's toll though. I also think that rock vocalists tend to tour or do more shows than an Oprah singer and take care of their bodies a LOT less. Crushin smokes and beer after every show vs. sipping lemon water and not talking all night are going to result in two very different voices down the line lol.

Please lets leave Oprah out of the discussion! Lol

Whitesnake has not been relevant since the late 80's. The newer stuff is well meh!! Good to see Doug move on though!! Maybe he can hook up with Jorn and make some awesome music!!

yet another thread dumper from the Twitter generation that think it is fine to badmouth behind their alter ego
if you haven't anything interesting/positive/humorous to say you can just as easily keep quiet under your hoodie

judging by them still selling out the Hammersmith Odeon any time they like, there are plenty WS fans of all ages
of the thousands of gigs I've attended, Coverdale is in my top vocal performances witnessed. the man is a class act.

But most bands couldn't care less whether other musicians like them as long as people are still going to their shows. I'd rather have 10 fans of music at a show than 100 musicians standing there with their arms crossed picking apart the performance.
