this might be a dumb question but i have no clue which one is better or what the difference is.. i could look it up but i would rather ask on here and get a right answer.. so please whats the difference and which one is better.. thanks

Not better or worse. Just a taste thing. Ceramic pickups are normally a little hotter, have better bass response (tightness), and a brighter treble response. A5 pickups have a "bigger" sounding bottom (not as tight), more mids, and sweeter treble. This is not to say that an A5 pickup can't be bright though.

For me ..., ( and obviously your mileage may vary ) ..., there is a defninte "best" .... AlNiCo V ( special ), as in the magnet that Suhr is using in ALL their pickups ! Nothing better as far as I'm concerned ....

Stop right now. Walk away. It's like heroin for SOME, with all the drawbacks.    An Ibanez, EMG and 6505 is a killer combo already.

This is your second thread about pickups within a day. In the other thread you made up your mind. Now it seems like you don't. Stop asking for "what is the best..". Buy or loan some pickups new or second hand and start experimenting. This is the only way. There is only one opinion that matters, that is your own. Like I said in the other thread, give BKP a call or e-mail and they will recommend you a pickup to match with your gear. Like bubba said, this is gonna be an addiction...

A decent guitar store will have guitars with A5 and ceramic's in them. Any new Gibson (not Epiphone) Explorer or V will have a 500T ceramic in it and the LP standards will have Burstbucker Pro's? which are A5. A lot of ESP Ltd's use a Duncan JB if not an EMG which is another A5 you can compare with. Different amps will respond better or worse to lower and higher output pickups. You'll have to demo and experiment for yourself to find out.
