Alright baby my Edwards Les Paul is here! (pics & clip)

My LPC is here! man, what a beauty....this thing came setup perfectly...no buzz, no high strings, the perfect action, and man these SH6 Seymour Duncans sound REALLY nice.... wow.... specially the bridge one. The neck one sounds very nice too, but I'm too used to the chimey strat single coil, so I'll beat the crap out of it for a while and then swap the neck hb for a split coil bucker. But I still love the guitar a lot.

I'm uploading some pics I took of her, meanwhile here's a quick clip I made.

Duesentrieb Little Joe in the clean channel and Ch.2 (-) mode with gain at 10:00 SWEET!

The cleans sounded really good!

You need to work on your lead tone though.

I like the split humbuckers in my Les Pauls, but I find that splitting the bridge is much more useful than splitting the neck. A Les Paul with split humbucker still sounds nothing like a strat, but its a cool sound regardless and gives the guitar some more versatility.

What humbuckers are in there exactly, are they both SH6's?
 
yeah there are two SH6 in there.

My internet connection sucks coc since yesterday so I haven't been able to upload the photos to the server. Will post as soon as I can. :)


what would I need to make that SH6 splitable? just buy a pull/push pot and rewire?

Yeah, that should be all you need. Make sure you get the right type pot to replace either volume or tone depending on where you want the split. The SH6 should have all the leads you need to get this done.
 
You SH-6 Duncan distortions are already 4 wire pickups. Just take the Red&Wire wires and put them to one side of the switch on the push pull pot and then put ground in the middle of the switch. Seymour duncan should have a nice wiring diagram that shows this.

I made the tone pots the push pull, as the push pull pots are typically easier to turn and I didn't want to turn my volume down or up when switching the coils.

I have 500k volume and tone pots in all my Les Pauls. Make sure you get the right pot shaft length too, there is a long shaft and a short shaft version.
 
Put a Dimarzio Humbucker from Hell in there. That will give you some really chimey single-coil sounding type tones in the neck.
 
I though you had bought the one with the yellowish/greenish binding. It looks spectacular either way!

How does it compare to a Gibson LP Custom?
 
I too would be interested in how it compares to a LP Custom.
 
I have not own a Gibson before, Olaf (duesentrieb) used gibson for more than 15 year and changed them all for two edwards or an Edward and an Orville I think
 
Edwards LPs weight less than the 70s LPCs I've owned (4 kilos vs. 5.5 kilos).
The Ed is more resonant (different mahogany, no swiss-chesse-holes though), neckwise it is comparable to my 76 LPC.
Sound is very very close to the real LPC IMO - although the pickups are of course different . . .
I prefer them (Eds and Orvilles) due to the weight over Gibson actually. Ever tried to gig three hours with a 70s LPC on your shoulder? No? You really don't need this experience when you're past 40 years of age IMO.
 
Man I'm telling you guys, this one is not like the other Edwards I had (goldtop) this one stays in tune PERFECTLY, no buzz, perfect setup, it's amazing.


The pickups are great too! maybe the neck pup is a bit "sterile" for some clean work, but I'll leave it there for now because it sounds very good for lead work and I don't wanna spend more money on that.

I'm a 100% strat man, but this guitar is thank god making me change that a little bit.

I would leave that guitar as-is. You have a strat already. If you want chimey cleans, you use that.

my god the setup is unbelievable Vlad! shit, that guitar came all the way from Japan, and the setup is flawless!


About the pickup....well it's just alittle bit too dark an a tad too sterile. It'll do that's for sure, but it's something I'll definitely change in the future. I don't want it to mimic strat cleans.....but a good warm les paul clean

It's a '59 and Duncan Distortion?
