It's funny because when I was 14 or so, CC was one of the reasons I picked up the guitar. Until I learned how to play guitar a little. Then I was embarassed that I was inspired by a cheeseball.

I watch it too and don't like this guy's playing. His stage moves are bad but I can get over that, it's the playing that irritates me. Notice the guitar totally dropped out after a while on Pia's last performance? Dude must have just thought better of it considering his opening chord. Bass player had a bit of a fumble at the key change as well. I think the guitarist fucked up the start of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" too!
That said, he has a sick gig so kudos to him for that.

My wife has it on, I watch it.
When they played "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" she looks over at me and says. "wow, that guy is terrible". I agreed with her.
He's got no tone, vibrato or power. His Strat tones are all wrong, His Les Paul tones are weak. You'd think with the budget that show has, he'd have great tone.
But................like I always tell people, you can't buy tone. Either you've got it or you don't.

If I had a Les Paul with a floyd on it, I doubt I'd ever play anything else. Just can't afford another 3000 Les Paul.
As cheesy as it may be, everyone on there can sing. I mean really sing.
As for the guitarists tone....I find that very few television shows translate into a good mix. And that goes for guitar tone as well.
