I really can't stand the fact that with some cabs the speakers are made for the manufacturer of the cab . I.E. EVH, I can understand why some amp companys have them made cause they want it to complement their amp. However I don't like the fact that if I want just their cab then I'm stuck with their speakers .
Case and point ,I'm looking for a new cab. I really want to try the EVH 4x12 because I've had the 2x12 and IMHO it was an awesome sounding cab .The thing is I want to load the cab with G12h-75 creambacks. After I do this I don't want to be stuck with 4 EVH branded speakers and a branded speaker is way harder to sell than say a V30.It would be nice to be able to recoup some cash, cause a new evh and 4 creambacks is gonna be a chunk of change .
From what I've heard and read the EVH is basically a rebranded greenback. But thats not going to make it any easier to sell and if it does sell it won't go for what a green back would. So long story I probably won't buy the cab. :(

Side rant: The price of cabs these days is ridiculous. Morgan 2x12 with creambacks=$849
EVH 4x12 $999
Its friggin wood and some speakers . I can remember when a LP custom was less than that .
Yea I'm old

Well, every cab can't come loaded with authentic V30s or Greenbacks. But proprietary speakers can be frustrating. Usually they only come in lower end equipment. EVH is an exception, mainly because Eddie has become a real self brand pusher.
FWIW, those EVH Greenbacks are great speakers. Better than the 70th Anni's that come in the 2x12.

Those EVH speakers are much better than t75s. Just buy an unloaded cabinet or order an Avatar with your choice.

For what its worth, the EVH speakers in the 4x12 are literally Heritage Greenback (Made in England) which was stated on several forums by one of the Celestion reps.

I've got that cab and those speakers and they absolutely slay  Those speakers excel at everything from thrash>death>modern metal>hard rock>classic rock>you name it. Tight but not too tight, punchy mids, gritty and aggressive yet sweet at the same time.

But I hear ya on the resale thing.

Just grab a used one from GC.com, order online and you'll pay 25 bucks for shipping. Last I looked there were plenty of mint EVH cabs for 500.
