Amp experts: Combining Fender and Marshall...

Ok, I will try and explain this the best way I know how.

I have a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe combo, and a Marshall JCM 900 Dual Master Reverb (?).

Tomorrow I am going to try and use them both together, to see what results I can get. Now my question is how to go about it in the best way... Because I know nothing about these things.

I have a RockTron 8 Loop so I will try and use both amps simultaneously, but what if I were to slave them? Would this mean taking the FX send of one and sending it into the others return?
If so... Which would be better? I seem to remember reading that Dumble style amps have Fender and Marshall style pre and powers? Which way around? Fender pre into Marshall power? Or the other way around?

If I find a solution that I really dig... Is it then possible to size it all down, by removing the respective parts and sticking it in some sort of rackable shell? Obviously I would hook up with someone who has some tech knowledge...

From the voicing of a Dumble, I would assume that it would be the Fender pre and Marshall power.

I've done some experimenting with slaving, best to just let your ears decide. Sometimes the least probable outcome is the most desirable in the end.

Now to get into some real fun, find which poweramp section you like the best, run the other preamp section into it, and use an EQ between them to shape the sound further. Probably result in some really cool and unique sounds.

So take the fx out from the Fender into the Fx return of the marshall?

This would bypass the respective obsoletes?

I will definitely try that EQ between them. Sounds like there could be some good tweaking to be had

The Marshall has a line level output it seems.

If you run a cable from the line out to effects return of the Fender, you'll have marshall into Fender power section. You'll still need a load, or speaker connected to the Marshall (in case you didn't know, bear over with me if I'm patronizing )

Or preamp out from Fender into the Marshall fx return. Some amps have a functioning preamp with the standby on. You probably want to keep the speaker connected on the Fender as well

No patronising here You can never be reminded enough times... Especially since I am not at the top of the list when bands pick their amp techs

I feel it's only a matter of time before I give in and buy the Axe Fx...

the fender preamp is post tone distortion and can sound flubby ,marshalls preamps generate distortion first then the tone stack which results in a much better distortion,smoother,not flubby
