what I was try to say is I wouldn't under any circumstances take a "$2K Anything " on the road with me.

the places I've been in the past, theres just way too many drunk & curious nubholes to leave something that precious unguarded :gethim:

Wow.. That thing sounds terrific IMO...

I gotta say, this technology is really coming into it's own. I did a comparison between my Revalver MKIII and my real amps today. Unfortunately, for recording, the Revalver simply sounds WAYYY better.

I know thats what I'm saying - I can get "consistantly" better tones using sims + EL34/6550 power amps than I can with my favorite all tube heads.

I was always waiting for peavey to step to the plate and show line 6 how its really done !!

by the time Revalver IV & V arrive they'll be copping bogner & cameron tones for sure

BTW lot of good stuff here -

warning - he makes sweeping look so easy that you'll want to start playing the drums :D

And what I'm saying that I take 10k of gear out to the worst road houses I play...it's gear, it's made to be played.

Think of it this way...my car is more and I take that out...

FUZZboat, you are right about this Overloud stuff man... I downloaded the Demo for the TH1, and so far I'm really impressed. The interface is a little different than the other computer-based modelers I've used (Revalver, GR3, etc.), but I can see myself getting comfortable. The layout reminds me of how a computer-based Axe-FX GUI might be. The only thing I can't figure out is how to sum the left and right channels so that I can get output from both speakers. I'm using the standalone demo and not the plugin one. I may have to just grab the plugin version and load it into Logic.

Sounds like if you have any nice gear you should just put it under glass and not play it. Enjoy looking at it and stuff.

Before I got the axe, I gigged with a bogner XTC head that is much more expensive... big freakin' deal. It's a totally selfish thing on my part, I'm not doing it to treat the crowd, I'm doing it because *I* want to play the gear that inspires me the most and makes me happy. Because of the different cover songs my bands play, I usually carry 5 or so guitars, worth anywhere from $800ish to $1.8k ish each. I've been gigging for over 15 years, never had anything stolen *knock on wood*.

Big "meh" on hi gain sounds.

Great lower gain ones though. That goes on pretty much all the modelers/simulators I've heard. But this one's better than most I'll admit to that.

I brought my IIC+ out to plenty of shows, it is just gear. And most clubs, even the shitty ones, tend to keep most drunks and morons away from the stage.

yeah its definitely hit or miss with all these sims progs

my wish is that peavey or line 6 combine forces with overloud or studio devil.

with that kind of R&D clout I would expect the "MOAM"

A beta version of our VST (that also runs standalone) should be out this week. It kills everything out there.

And how similar will this be to your rack unit in terms of overall capability?

*looks for wallet* ;)

Everything is in there. All the reverbs, compressors, harmonizer, etc. We're probably going to sell a base version and then offer add-on packs. The base version will have amps, cabs, reverb, delay, etc. Then there'll be the "Studio Pack" which will have multi-band compressor, vocoder, etc.

We copied the whole grid-based routing theme as well. So it won't be a virtual rack like the other products. The main interface is the grid. You click on a location to select/edit an effect. When you click on an effect a control panel pops up for editing, very slick.

Our audio interface should be done shortly as well. This completes the package because it uses the "special sauce" front-end electronics from the Axe-Fx. The interface uses the same front-end electronics and converters as the Axe-Fx along with an 8 channel USB interface. There's also MIDI In and Out so you can hook a MIDI controller to it and control the software just like you would an Axe-Fx.

The basic idea is to turn your PC or Mac into an Axe-Fx. [sales pitch mode] You supply the hardware, we supply the audio interface and software. So you get our award-winning modeling and effects running on a PC or Mac. [/sale pitch mode] :D

It isn't going to be cheap though. It won't be as much as an Axe-Fx but it's not going to be in PodFarm (or whatever it's called) territory either. A LOT of development has gone into this. As with the Axe-Fx we don't skimp on things. If you want a cheap product then get GuitarRig or Amplitude. If you want quality and are willing to pay a little extra the Axe-PC is for you.

Interesting...

Is there still an Axe-Fx all-in-one floorboard in the works? Still interested to see if one is coming out. :)

Played guitarrig II and Revalver II for years and that was a real cool solution...(at home). But now I bought an axe-fx standard!

Why

Because
  • It's better!
  • No latency problems (I have ASIO drives but that will NEVER beat the short latency of the Axe-fx)
  • No buffer problems (plops and glitches)
  • No CPU problems (maybe the newest cpu's have no problems but I have a P4 3 Ghz ht PC tuned for audio and hires patches frequently gave me problems when using the vst in for example ableton live 7. I investigated some laptops to do the trick live at gigs but I found out they will simply fall short)

This has got me so excited! I'm in a situation that I can't really open up my amp in my home studio to lay down tracks, but all the other modeling software has just sounded "meh" to me. Being able to get Axe-FX quality without the rack equipment will be a huge benefit, not to mention, it would make for a killer portable studio when combined with a laptop.

Wait until you see our GUI.... schweeeeet.

Yes, the pirates are a serious problem. Therefore...

You MUST buy the Axe-PC hardware interface for the product to work. The hardware interface is also your product key. Each one is serialized and locked to your software. The software will NOT run if the interface is not attached to your computer. You don't need to use the interface (i.e. if you're running as a plug-in) but it still needs to be attached. Your computer also needs to be connected to the internet periodically to verify licensing.

I know a lot of people are going to complain about this but we have to do it. A LOT or work went into this product and we need to recoup our investment.

PERIODIC ?
