Reverb had a few 221's going for $349 listed for quite some time. Switching the power output of high power tube amplifiers involves a very specific (and critical for the health of the connected amps ) set of design considerations.
As far as I'm concerned, the prudent move here is to use the same unit that is used and recommended by the person who actually designs and builds some of the best tube amplifiers available. I don't feel like this is an area where I want to try and save a couple of bucks.

On a side note...A way around the loop issue would an attenuator with a loop if your switching multiple heads into one cabinet. You may need or have an attenuator anyway.

shameless spam....i have a 222 on reverb. not using two amps anymore. they are nice and easy to operated, fast switching a dependable load for the off amp. you can also run in stereo. one of the good things about the Ampete is you can share common FX using the FX loop between 2 amps.

Update... I just got a call from the MusicZoo... they told me they oversold the 444 and gave me the choice to wait a few months or refund... 
Looks like i'm going thru Reverb/ Denmark shipping after all.

So 3 to 4 weeks and I asked him to drop me a line when they come in. Also these guys ship fast, they shipped the same day I ordered thru DHL. Cheers!
