Mostly for couch jamming metal, but some blues type stuff as well...anybody got decent clips of the Rectos or anything else metal or blues? Any pack recommendations? Would be for iPad3, if it makes any difference.

Thanks guys.

Man, I don't have any vids or clips or anything but I highly recommend it. I like it 100 times better than the amplitube app. I use the ampkit on my iPhone 5 and iPad 2 by the way. I have the power pack bundle and it has just about everthing you need. I mainly use some VH 1 type patch I downloaded from somewhere but it sounds really nice and I can tweak the gain with an OD depending on what type of sound I'm wanting. I like the Ampkit better than Amplitube simply for the fact that you can put the time based FX into the loop of the amp model and with Apmlitube you cannot. I use mine for practicing and learning new tunes while in bed and sitting on the couch. You can jam along with tunes from your iPhone or iPad. Only thing I don't like is you cannot pause fast forward or rewind with said song. Only stop and start from the beginning. But it has a tuner and a metronome which is cool. Great app.

So the Power Pack is decent then? Good models for what they are?

The 6505 and Peavey 3120 and the rectifier models sound great on there own. The vintage Brit model with an OD of choice works great for metal tones too. If you have the $20 it's worth it. Best little practice tool I've ever had. It's not an Axe-Fx in the quality or anything but just for practicing and jamming to some tunes through some headphones or external speakers it's great.

Hope it helps : https://soundcloud.com/groups/ampkit

I've not used mine for a long time, but it's quite a good piece of software for the price. One advice : take a guitar input connector that goes on the dock, the ones that connect to the mic/helmet jack suck.

Ampkit is great. I used to use it a lot more than I do now but I still fire it up now and then. Did this track on my iPad with ampkit and an apogee jam. Don't remember which amp model I used.
