Lespaul6, you're absolutely right :-)

The subject of guitar tube amps is immense, so instead of paralysis by analysis, we decided to start somewhere - that somewhere being LA - given the sheer amount of boutique amp builders in the area. That way we were be able to produce something tangible (i.e. small pilot shorts) in a relatively short period of time. We have ideas/plans on how this project will evolve, but we are open to suggs. Interviewing the builders gave us confirmation about a lot topics, whilst other proved not so interesting, f.inst.

I'm def acknowledging the importance of high gain and multichannel amps in our amp endeavour. The builders TBA are well known on this forum ;-)

Thanks, guys

ps. Fortin is def on our list.

Fryette & Friedman is down there ...

I think what you are doing is very cool...:)

Hi Jean, sounds like this is going to be great! good luck with the roll out!

Hey, one guy you should be speaking to has already popped up in this thread. I'm sure he's got a lot to say. ;)

GAS for his amps may make you mortgage your house, or lie to your spouse! :D

Isn't Larry still over in Nuernberg, Germany ?.... that should make little difference. :) He should be in the documentary.

Talking to players with a signature sound... Did they stumble across it or was it carefully engineered?

Do their playing styles contain a hint as to what they spent their first 2 years practicing on?

Send me a pm if you can get hold of Joe Bonamassa or John Mayer ;-)

No but we all know how to reach Pete Thorn, i can't think of anyone better suited to demo the amps you're talking about

Do a buyer contrast piece where you talk about Dumble and the current going rate of them versus the basement warrior scraping pennies together and researching in order to buy the most modest of rigs.

In a similar vein, Film a dude who can't play worth sh*t but PLAYED thru something like a $50,000 Dumble.

i one better'd your request....and fixed what you wrote for you. LOL

ANDYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

WE LOOOOOOOVE YOU

COME BACKKKKKKKKKKKKKK ANDYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

:D

fuckin dude never sounds bad playing anything....seriously.

in all sincerity though, i look forward to the full vid.

you should try to track mike fortin down....get his backstory....larry too....some of the guys over on metro.
jerry from FJA, brian from BFG, licklighter....some of the modders on here too!

Interview me for this, man! I think the story of how I started my amp company would be pretty interesting....

hell yeah!
i'd love to hear the full story. i love reading stuff like that.

details, details, details!!

Wonder if James Brown would be interested in an interview? Love to hear an interview with Larry and Mike Fortin as well. Cant leave out Bruce Egnater either! I'm sure he would be more than willing to give his story. Randall Smith as well? He's a pretty well known name with a cool story

Hi Guys,
thanks for keeping an interest :-)

A little update:
We're working on the player's perspective (we plan on shooting late fall), as well as the historical development of tube amps (and the boutique segment). It's not an easy task though, as footage is rare and mostly very expensive.

Cheers, Jean

If the documentary is to be accurate, better bring a lie detector machine to some of these potential interviews.

Best of luck, Jean. Looking forward to the finished product!
