since we're all thinking bout ole concerts and stuff.///....whats the first amp ya had>>>?...how about some that you would love to have back?

my first amp was a crate....you rember them..first production..that actually looked like a crate??..i had visions of having 8 of them to make a crate stack!!..ha!

i had a sunn 6x12 ..v-ported...cabinet!!...it was without a doubt the loudest cab i ever had!!...louder than any stack!!...and the odd porting just filled any room!!...wish i had that thing back...oh yeah...it weighed about 400lbs!

My first amp was a Marshall Lead 12. I still play it today. It has had no problems in 26 years. Next was a 50w JCM800 and I don't have that anymore. :(

My first guitar amp was a Sunn Beta Lead 4x10 combo. I still have the head out of it.

Marshall 5210, 1x12" 800-era solid state combo, 50 watts.
nice little thing, I still have it too. I bought it new about 22 years ago :)

I had a Gorilla GG-20 with genuine "Tube Stack" saturation. The real secret to my early sound, however, was the J.C. Penney distortion pedal out front. I bet that sounded just fabulous. :D

My first decent amp was a Marshall JCM800 100 watt head, modded by Andy Marshall of THD Electronics in Seattle. It was stolen from a rehersal room way back in the day. I would love to have that back!

I had one of those old Peavey Pacer combos when i first started out, and i used to run a few pedals into it. After that i got a Carvin X-100B head and i guess that was my first 'real' amp!

This is really gonna tell on me, but my first amp was a silver-padded kustom. It was a piggyback 60 watt, with jensons. Like the ones CCR used to use.

Mine was a Marlboro practice amp and a Muff Fuzz distortion.....first amp big enough to play with a band was a Yamaha G100 2-10 combo and an EH Hot Tubes Distortion pedal (I wish I still had that pedal). That amp had problems cutting out so I ended up trading it for a Marshall 50 watt SS combo and eventually added a Sound City 4-12 cabinet.

Some no name 10" SS amp that worked only when you kicked it after you turn the power on.

Second was one of those 100w Marshall Valvestate combos. The older ones not the avt stuff.

First Amp
150 Watt Fender Stage 185 1x12 combo. Good fender cleans, the drive was not too too bad, but it was all Solid State bees in the ears thing. It was pretty loud from what I remember. Also had to smack it once in a while to make it work.

I scooped alot of ice cream cones to earn the money for that amp. wish I still had it.

*Face

I had an Ibanez Toneblaster, with like a 6" or 8" speaker. It sucked.

This amp called "The Animal" that had a little badge on it that said, "Made for Vai". It had a 6 1/2" speaker and no distortion. That was technically my first amp but I don't consider it as such. My first "real" amp was a Peavey Rage 158. The first amp I played in a band with was a Peavy Transtube Bandit. And my first great amp was a Mesa Mark IV.

First amp was a Fender HOT. It was a 25Watt SS amp with Reverb (the reverb was a big deal :D )
I then went to a Peavey Transtube supreme Head and 412M cab. I don't miss either amp.

Only amps I miss a bit are the laney VH100R and Orange Rockerverb 50.....

I have not had too many amps and my #1 is my 1959 Guild all tube 12" speaker 20 watt combo. I will play that amp until they pull it from my dead fingers.  Speaking of CCR and tuck and roll amps. When I saw Fogerty do his Blue Moon Swamp tour he had his Kustom Tuck and roll on stage. I kept wondering what it was on stage for as they are pretty bad amps and not up to tube standards of any day. Well about half way through the concert they rolled it out and John started telling us about Woodstock and the amp and it was the same amp he was using. He didn't have the Ric but had one just like it and did Susie Q for the show. We all went nuts.

A very small chipwood combo with a yellow chassis and only three knobs that I got as a gift from my guitarteacher. All the pots crackled and there was an oval car stereo speaker in it :-( after a summerholiday of hard work I bought a Peavey backstage 18

Giga.
