amps from back in the day!

Crate G-20 . a 1-12 combo "non celestion". I goosed it with a DOD supra distortion and was playing my Hondo strat copy at the time. I thought it was so cool. It sounded monsterous to me. Then a couple years later I upgraded to a Crate Gx60, " I figured I needed to cut through in a band situation"  Then I scored a 2204 in 1998 finally for 400$ and indeed it kicked major ass! I never looked back, only good amps from then on.

I still have my first real amp: Peavey Butcher. Bought it back in 1985. It is currently in a storage unit in Boston.

Vox Valvetronix 30. Still have that amp, which isn't hard because I started playing only 5 years ago.

Then I got a Marshall MG100H and matching cab (), I then sold that to help finance my Diezel/Orange purchase.

What a quick and steep upward progression, .

first amp i ever had was a marshall valvestate 8040 ... not bad ! haha

My first amp was a Peavey Bandit 75. First guitar was a '74 Les Paul Custom that I paid $400 for. I wish they were still that cheap!

i started playin on a old bogen tube amp my father had when he was a kid. i honestly cant remember the first amp i bought though. maybe a vox pathfinder??

Here's a picture of the first amp I had in about 1966 (sounded awful):

Here's a picture of the amp I had in about 1972 (I wish I still had it) (sounded great):

  right on, I went through almost the same thing. I've played a bunch of amps (still not as many as I'd like...no Bogners, other Diezels, Riveras, Splawns, etc....sigh...), but as far as owning amps goes, I went from Marshall G100RCD --> Marshall AVT2000 100w --> Diezel VH4. I skipped one step, which was a JCM 800...but I still might be getting one anyway :D

I had some Sunn something or other. I don't remember exactly except it sounded like shit

Then I went and bought a JCM800 2203 100w halfstack and a 1981 Les Paul Custom after working all summer for my grandfathers ranch. When I got it, I wasn't even in a band and I was absolutely horrible trying to play stuff from Dio and Jake E Lee riffs and stuff like that. (man, i'm getting old). I still have and play both the guitar and amp regularly live  (the guitar took a beating from my son when he dropped it but it got repaired nicely and is back in the rotation)

When I started playing the guitar 4 years ago ;) I had a Peavey Pro Studio with a Zoom G9.2tt effects unit (sounded pretty good) and as for like 4 months a go i got a Mark IV  so it's a really steep climb for me, but a very good one. My playing has improved so much because of the amp changed !!! I'm so happy i got this amp !

I know I am missing a few, like there was a fender champ in there at one point, a kustom tuck and roll 100 for a summer, and a lafayette tube amp with a 10 inch speaker that I REALLY wish I had kept just for the cool factor.

I probably need to purge a bit

oh Man.. My dad bought this amp for me for my 12th birthday.. and we had to freaking build it! LOL OK it was cool but man I wanted to play the thing. I learned a lot. Whats crazy is I still have this amp.

Then a Marshall combo, Then in early 80-81 was the Carvin x100b's.. and rack gear! LOL

'68 Fender Princeton Reverb. Dad paid $125 for it, but this was back in '83. It was mint and had all original tubes. Traded it a few years later for a 22 watt fender solid state POS and a chorus pedal. :(

<----<< First amp, 71 or 72 Ampeg v2. After the 7027A red plated and couldn't find another, it went to the basement and turned into a zombie. Next was a 60 watt crate head I bought in 91 and ran it through the Ampeg cab.. It didn't look cool so I cut the cloth off.
