I'm loving my Splawn Quick Rod. Hard to get a bad sound out of it. It's done a good job on covering ground. I've got quite a few clips w/ it if you'd like to hear it. Hit me up in the PM's.

I've always wanted a 5153 too though(or maybe Sig X)...part of me worries that I wouldn't put it to use. I sold my Friedman Modded JMP(dumbest thing I've ever done) by convincing myself I needed something with a clean channel...just in case. So I got a Splawn w/ a clean channel and to be honest, I checked out the clean channel the day it came in and I haven't switched it over since. Like before, I just roll back my volume for cleans. It cleans up great.

Yea, but how do you get super, ultra fender clean by just rolling back the volume?
I have avoided Splawn for that reason. I play in a 90s cover band and some things we cover are super fender clean, almost acoustic quality. My Mesas, PWE and Bogner do this well.

My Quick Rod in first or second gear, OD2 cleans up just fine with my volume knob, and I use Super 3 bridge...

^yea that. I posted a thread a couple days ago with 2 albums I was just on, one studio and the other live. All Splawn. No clean channel. Just rolled back volume, all gear 2 and some switching between OD1 and OD2.

Here's the thread viewtopic.php?f=3&t=131806

I do love my Rockman stuff (I used to have a whole rack of it! But no more)! It was fun stuff, and simple to carry around and honestly sounded pretty cool.

as for the splawn, it seems like a no brainer! It's pretty clear what you all think about them

now on to the question of cabs, I've been looking at 3 in particular, Obviously the Splawn with big block/small blocks, Mills Acoustic and some of the VHT stuff
Man don't go SB. Get the Celestion Creambacks. They sound amazing in my Splawn cabs.

Just ordered my Quick Rod yesterday. 3 weeks is what the turn around time is looking like.
