Would a highly boosted Vox amp have a lot of sag? Considering that it has no negative feedback at all?

Just as an alternative...

Yeah. When Ritchie Blackmore or Rory Gallagher, Brian May hit their Vox amps w/ a Treble Booster, there was an obvious sag due to the amp's input overloading.

It's going to sound way fuzzier and hairier. Like using a '70s fuzz pedal instead of a distortion pedal. I don't think this the sound your after if you like more modern high gain tones. Add to that the ragged bottom and general lack of chunk/tightness from the EL84 power section... this is a turn in the wrong direction.

Listen to this gentleman.

-not all class A amps have 84's- thou it is common, I'm not sure that CLASS A means "fizzy/fuzzy" low end, I hope not, I can't stand either one.

-right now I'm leaning towards something in the BAD CAT line up, like I mentioned previously, the VOX NIGHT TRAIN I tried want fizzy or fuzzy.. I wasn't able to crank it thou.

Sunn Model T with a light distortion in front of it?

Do you have a sound clip of what you want?
