but I like HIWATT, ORANGE, just looks cooler to me that just some random dudes last name.

I always liked Page's take on Orange:

I guess builders can do what they want. Having a real catchy brand name is pretty difficult. If your name has a ring to it then why not? Plus as others have stated, some builders are proud of their fine work.

I do not like artist "sig" amps very much or guitars at that but if it sounds and plays great then whatever. A good name is just a bonus I guess.

I think Moosavi would be a catchy brand name like filmz mentioned: Ferrari or Porsche, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Bentley etc etc

Yeah I hate it when guys incorporate their last names into their online monikers too

Good one

Only Reza could text you asking for NAMM passes and then 24 hours later, insinuates your company is narcissistic and lacks creativity ;)

Sorry, bit of a lame rant for me. Probably one of the lamest to date.

I have zero problems with a guys name on an amp.... or an emblem on a car, or a winter jacket, or a ski boot. What the hell are you going to call it? Model serial number #234679485. Hey guys, check out my bitching serial number #2358697704 amp it fucking rocks!!!! I love gigging it on the weekends when I go to the bar with no name on the corner of 5th and Collingwood street. It fits perfect in my German made car serial 54679384VW.

You are out to lunch here man.. but most of the time I find your opposition to everything 80's and your love of Two Notes Torpedo instead of live cabs fun to read through so it balances out.

Just go find yourself some old Randall logos and make yourself some of these for all your amps.

I just think there are more creative things to call your stuff...it doesn't HAVE to be YOUR Name!!!

Ski jackets are called North Face, and Columbia. Skateboard companies are called Blind , Zero, and Chocolate.

This was a semi serious, tongue in cheek , fun rant. Lots of serious people here.

Yeah I know you aren't being serious on this one...that said, I really dig the Marshall logo. I think it just pops.

For me it's less about the actual name and more about the badge and it's aesthetics. I hate a big badge on pretty much anything. One of the early 'reissue' Camaros had an enormous fugly Chevrolet badge on it and I remember thinking what a beautiful car IF it didn't have that damn badge. I have a Stone Age 2x12C and while I like almost everything about it, I HATE the huge Stone Age badge on it and they way it looks. A small, metallic, script "SA" would have been classy looking and cool but no...big ass fugly square badge.

Marshall looks cool to me but it's an iconic name that many of my heroes played.
Bogner looks really cool to me too.
The Friedman badge imo looks like an afterthought; "Oh yea, shouldn't we put a badge on this Marshall cabinet?"

Randall Smith sort of had an easy decision to NOT use his name. But 'Boogie' to me was not a good choice (regardless if the Santana story is correct). Didn't seem to matter though because the quality/tone was there. MESA looks cool though.

Hey Buddy I am a proud owner of a Rev 2.

It is not a Bogner, it is a Rev 2. :D

I can honestly say this is something I have never cared about at all...

Sounds like a cool lineup.

I was fully expecting #5 to be: Like a Marshall.
For what I think are obvious reasons.

3 names and product descriptions of 4 pedals

Pedal 1 - Ronin - distortion
Pedal 2 - samurai - overdrive
Pedal 3 - Mankiri - compressor
Pedal 4 - Kunai - Delay

4 names and product descriptions of 4 accessories

5 marketing strategy, what will the products look like etc

Like the ninja , dark and stealthy, very light hints at mystical Japanese mythology
Dragon emblems , throwing stars, swords , and custom metal grills with throwing star like patterns
But very minimalist and dark. Think of a murdered out high end sports car.

6 business outline. dealers, distributors, direct sales, are you going boutique high end etc

2 lines, 1 custom shop high end, 1 medium range mass distribution.
Direct sales limited to custom shop orders.
Cosmetic variations and cabinet tolex etc all options avail in custom order

7 artist relations strategy

Leverage contacts in music industry to get players to try the amps, film high quality demos, and do standard A/B and C level endorsement deals

8 manufacturing who will make them and where.

Same place friedman is made? Or somewhere just like it?

Damn Rezz, you should make that shit happen!! :D

I used my name because it was a sure bet I could get Henning Amplification trademarked for my company without much trouble and it would be easy to live with over time as my line evolves. It doesn't imply anything about what kind of amps I'm making.

I spent a bunch of money trying to get my Cherry Bomb image and name trademarked and got rejected because of a Peavey harmonica mic design. Now how the hell are you going to confuse a harmonica mic and a guitar amp head? And what did any of that have to do with my completely unique image? Assholes...

Steve

This is a gag but I completely agree with this. I always like the VHT logo. Voluptuous Hog Tits. I'm down. Had a "Fryette" Sig X earlier this year and couldn't get over how ugly the damn logo looked. You would think people would be a little more creative and artistic with their brand name and logo.
