Guys,
I've sent several notes to administrators of this forum, and after receiving no replies, I've decided to take my chances with this post. I posted something similar on Harmony Central and several guys said that I'd get a lot better responses from Rig-talk.

My name is James Brown, and for about 23 years I've been designing amps that some of you may be familiar with: at Peavey, like the Classic 50, 5150, XXX, or JSX models, or the Kustom products I've designed in the last 5 years such as the '36Coupe, '72 Coupe, Defender, or Double Cross. Anyway, I'm posting this note to let you know that although I'm still designing amps for Kustom Amps, I've recently launched my own handmade pedal and amp company called Amptweaker.

I don't currently have any products to sell....in fact, my design philosophy is quite different from most manufacturer's since I'm actually asking the customers what THEY want instead of guessing. It seems like there's a big advantage to all this direct communication on the internet, since we can cut out all the middle men who insert their own agenda into product development.

Anyway, if you go to http://www.amptweaker.com, all I have now on my website is a big red Product Idea button. If you have some cool ideas that you never thought anybody would entertain, please throw it on there. I've been getting a lot of ideas and I'd love to figure out how to integrate YOUR ideas into something cool we can all get into.

Thanks,
James Brown

Dude! James Brown!

Met ya long time ago at a dealer seminar. You wouldn't remember me from Adam. But it was after Hartley's wife died and Van Halen was about to go on tour with Gary Cherone. 1998??

I think Eddie was beating you down over a 5150 II footswitch over the phone the day we met...you looked DONE with him.

Anyway, nice to see you on the board! Best of luck.

Much better reception here than poor James got over at HCAF

Welcome to the forum James and Brad is super cool with builders so dont be shy about sharing your products!!!!

Awesome! Great to have you on the board! Man, this place keeps getting cooler

Welcome James! Great to have another name in amp design here!

Yes, I'll admit this is a much more tolerant crowd! I understand the whole thing with unsolicited ads and how that could get out of control(I got beat up on HC for my 'thinly veiled ad', but thanks a lot for understanding that what I'M trying to do is get more 'audience participation'. I've been doing amplifier designs for a long time and 8 times out of 10 we're just guessing what people want. I had this bright idea that if I asked the consumers what they wanted instead of going through product managers, dealers, distributors, sales guys, and the like, maybe I'd get a more clear idea of what's needed in this industry.

So far I've gotten hundreds of people inputting ideas on my site, and of course a few are quite obvious suggestions and the occasional one that's not original......but most are really unique ideas. I've also seen plenty of repetition which helps me know where there's a hole in the marketplace for some special tweak or knob or feature that everybody wants but no manufacturer has enough guts to put out.

Anyway, I appreciate the opportunity to share this adventure with you guys, and I'm telling you that together we'll change how products are developed in this musical community. You have problems to solve, I have problems to solve....you have issues at gigs or during recording, and so do I. So I feel confident that we can figure these things out together and I KNOW that the end result will be better products than a bunch of fat cats sitting around a table wringing their hands about how much money they can make if they can just figure out a way to 'beat the kiddies out of their lunch money'.
...thanks.....James Brown.....www.amptweaker.com

I bet I'd remember you if I saw you....I suck at names, but I can remember faces pretty good. On the EVH thing, yeah he could be pretty demanding, but I definitely had to work hard to meet his expectations! So I guess it was worth it in the long run.....and the amps are the proof.

Thanks for your luck,
I can use it.

Welcome James! I'm right here in your neck of the woods. I work with Buddy Rogers in Cinci. Man, glad to see you here. Ok, my favorite James quote. So, what is different with the PV pedals you are doing now and the ones from the past? James says, "This time they won't suck!!" Or words to that effect. Met you down in Mississippi. Welcome aboard! Frank

I'm not sure I said that funny shit.......just kidding. I guess I'm a little blunt sometimes!
Thanks for your support, and help me pass the word around about this new venture.
