Johnny Marr. One of my favorite guitarists...for a very long time.

The guy who plays with Pat Benatar, her husband I think. Can't remember his name. I dig his solos.

Was checking out some of my old guitar mags from the 80's and came across an old interview with Andy Summers.
Well this led to me breaking out some Police CD's.
Such a breath of fresh air for me. Guy is so good I never realized it. Dont need to shred to 'rock'. ;)
Tried to play the beginning of "Every breath you take" and thought my fingers were going to lock up!
Anyone else wanna add on this or just toss out your fave guy that dont get much lime light.

He influenced more guitar players than the guitarists themselves even realize.

His work is a very good example of what many guitarist never seem to grasp. While many of his peers viewed songs as a vehicle to demonstrate every lick they knew, he played for the song. I never was a huge Police fan, but I didn't turn them off if they were on the radio. I had to learn "Message in a Bottle" for a band I was in, which lead to some new found respect for Summers, and the band. Recently learned the above-mentioned "Every Breath". I like the way he plays, and learning some of his tunes has lead to exploring in directions I may not have gone otherwise.
Interesting that Alex Lifeson gets a lot of mentions in this thread. He and Summers have a lot in common. Maybe not in style or musical direction, but each is a walking chord dictionary, and they each understand the importance of dynamics within song.

+1 on Keith Scott (Brian Adams)
Bobby Baker (Tragically Hip)
Dave Sabo & Scotti Hill (Skid Row)

Elliot Easton. :worship:

The guy never recorded a wrong note in his life.
