I have a SD Vapor Trail and is really crisp in front, but can get overloaded because I play with pretty high gain.
I put it in the loop of my Friedman BE50 and my guitar tech said it sounded normal to him. Delays can sound darker in the loop than in front, but you have more control over it. He also said digital delays and/or delays with a tone control will sound brighter and more crisp in the loop as they would up front as well.
Any thoughts? It's been years since I've put anything in the loop of an amp, so I just cannot recall what delays are supposed to sound like and I usually always put analogues up front, but I want to use the loop for now.
EDIT: 4-2-18: I put my boss digital delay in the BE50 loop and it was perfect. WAY Better, so color me stupid for not knowing the difference sounds of analogue vs. digital in an FX loop. I also tried them in my Egnater Semiinar loop and same thing: analogue was dark and not to my liking and the digital delay was perfect.
Cheers!
