Yeah, I have had a few of them. I don't currently have a Duo Jet, but I do have a White Penguin, which is essentially a Duo Jet in a white tuxedo with a lot of gold jewellery on.

The Bigsbys can definitely be finicky at times, but they're cool as hell too. The non-trem versions have their own character as well. Regardless, I've always found the tones to be decent for mild-breakup through crunchy rock. I don't think I'd recommend a Duo Jet for metal though - at least not without considering a pickup upgrade. I think SD will make you a regular humbucker (e.g., an Alnico, JB, etc.) in a Filtertron housing. That might get you there.

Agree 100% on that. The filtertron pickups are great for a mild breakup and crunch whenever I played a Duo Jet. If you add alot of gain to them for hard rock or metal though the results were not to my liking.

Both the major carriers suck. I watched (read as: witnessed with my eyes in real-time) a **** driver leave my no-longer-made JEM 7VSBL at the top of the truck steps, where it proceeded to tumble end over end down the steps onto the street. Driver picks it up and walks it over to me for me to sign. Headstock had punched through the box and raked the pavement. I was already on the phone with the company telling them what I just witnessed. Driver played (or maybe just WAS) dumb and denied everything. Company tells me they can either give me $100 so I can get it fixed myself or (yer gonna love this) I can give the guitar to them and they can repair it!! Since when do shipping companies know squat about guitar repair.

I told them I wanted that lying @$$ driver off my route or there would be lawyers all over the place. Never saw the guy again, but now they never knock on my door, record every package as. "delivery exception, not home" (I work from home), and say they left door tags they never did. Complete losers.

Now I have them "professionally" pack everything at my own expense so that if anything happens there's zero question about packaging. You packed it, if it's damaged, either your packing sucked or your driver was negligent. Either way, shipping company pays full insured value, no questions asked.
