Lars is such a douche... Every mistake they have made is because of Lars... St. Anger having no leads was his decision too. The shitty pingy sounding snare was also his decision... I think Hetfield needs to step up once in a while and tell Lars to "fuck off, you're an idiot" sometimes ya know...?? Death Magnetic being mastered too loud and clipping everywhere was probably because of Lars..??

Justice is prolly my favorite Metallica record, and yet I can't listen to it because of the awful production. Master of Puppets sounds so good. It just "sits" really well in headphones, it doesn't come at you too hard like Justice does.

I've always wished Hetfield would do more with other musicians outside of Metallica. Lars is a terrible drummer and just an arrogant prick, and Kirk and Robert will do whatever Lars and James say. It's sad, really. Metallica would be so much better with a real drummer.

who was responsible for that idiotic clipping(peaking) on the last production? Listening to that the other day was like, gee sounds as shitty as the last time I heard it.

Heard they may have to get serious now as they have lost a ton of money on some of their recent stupid projects.

IMO they would not. Lars isn't a great drummer but music isn't all about being proficiently perfect. Without Lars IMO they wouldn't sound like Metallica, old or new.

Ever seen the concerts where Lars was sick and some drummers from other bands played with them instead. Yes, the timing and beats were tighter but it didn't sound like Metallica.

Rick Rubin. Loudness wars at their best. Sounds like shit.

Musically, AJFA is brilliant. Unfortunately, as stated above, the mix is God aweful. It is very fatiguing on the ears. I wish they would do a complete remix and remaster of that album.

Kirk should quit Metallica and rejoin Exodus

James should start doing drugs again, then maybe he would be able to write a decent thrash riff again :dunno:

Lars should join the Justin Beiber band

Robert should go back to Suicidal Tendencies or Ozzy

Everything after the Justice album sucked

Over the years I've checked out different re-mixes people have done for AJFA, (there's a link for "Blackened" in that Blabbermouth blink) and I actually prefer the original to all the re-mixes I've heard.

Of course, these re-mixes were done by people who got the Rockband tracks or whatever and just did their own version and obviously won't have the same quality as something done in a pro studio with the actual tracks, but that cold, to-the-point sound of AJFA is so much a part of what makes it for me.

The mix is unusual for sure but really back in the day I don't remember anyone talking about it that......and it never kept me from loving the album. Justice is a masterpiece, my fav. Metallica album by far.

Yeah, the added bass actually ruins it now,

Read this and literally laughed out loud over a minute long when he said they pulled him in to listen to the drums and he thought "these sound like ass." Hahahahhaa
HOLY SHIT!!! Just noticed your avatar!

Guess I am in the minority here. I love the sound of the production on and justice. What do people want? For it to sound like it was produced in the last five years? Everything sounds the same and way too loud. It is the recording formula, the art is lost when people no longer mix like themselves. The drums on their own don't sound good and the guitars definitely don't but put them all together and you have a masterpiece. As for Lars, he definitely sucks now but on the record, if you listen to the drums alone you can't really say he sucked on that album. Sure he is sloppy on the feet here or there with the triplets but overall, he worked those parts and made them what they were. There is some cool toms work and foot blasts that I really like. I'd say Kirk has shit the bed an awful lot more with age. That said , don't judge my defending them with me supporting them because I think they have blown since the black album. I can't even listen to Metallica anymore. They have stuck around too long.

+1. I never thought it sounds bad by any means and never heard anything of the sort until the last few years (aside from the lack of bass guitar).

Who would Kirk replace in Exodus? Holt and Altus both smoke him. :D
And why couldn't it have been Lars instead of Cliff under that bus?
