During a global pandemic where nobody knew what was going on and doctors in hospitals saw people's lungs literally liquefying in their bodies? Where there were so many bodies piling up that many hospitals had to bring in refrigerated trucks to handle the bodies?

I think at the time, those recommendations were pretty well warranted, yes.

I know lots of people on the right can only think in black and white and think if the vaccine doesn't 100% prevent infection and 100% prevent symptoms, it's worthless, but no vaccine works like that. The vaccine worked in that it reduced the symptoms of covid, and at the time, a statistically significant symptom of covid was death. Other statistically significant symptoms were long-covid, reduced immunity to everything else, and a fuckload of other bad shit.

Even masking was proven to reduce the chance of infection. Shit dude in 2022 when everybody was masking, the fucking flu infected fewer people than it had in over a decade, by like 70%. Masking worked.

Here in Canada, it's particularly strong in that if one merely questions and doesn't abide by the far left on highly contentious topics such as, "what is gender" and anything Indigenous related, that's all it takes for the inquisitor to be labelled an oppressor, hater, etc. Such topics have absolutely no consensus amongst the general population and even in professional fields with regard to what is and what isn't, or what happened and what didn't happen, but the powers that be want us to live in total accordance with their view and if you think otherwise, you're automatically an <insert negative descriptor>.
