Brendan Carr is the head of the FCC and was given that position by Trump because he's a Trump loyalist. Just like how Kash Patel is head of the FBI for being a Trump loyalist even though he's incompetent.

Trump loyalist Brendan Carr applied pressure against the network saying they'd face consequences for "misleading" the American people because of Kimmel's remarks against Trump, and the company, not wanting the scrutiny, took preemptive action against Kimmel via suspension.

Of course Trump didn't literally decree that Kimmel be suspended. He expressed dissatisfaction and his loyalist jumped to action.

Kind of like Eric Holder referring to 0bama as his “boy” and being his “wingman”. You can’t have it both ways jackass. I’d want loyalists too. Biden’s entire cabinet was left wing partisan scum. Give me a break with that argument.

They are both terrible, for sure. It's just that Kimmel let his partisanship get way too close to the legal line this time. Even his ardent supporters among the Disney brass who have said they aren't even mad at him, are trying to shield him from the consequences.

Apparently, if he wasn't canceled, he was going to double down even harder on his "alternative facts" about the shooting. Even after sinclair and all the local stations put their foot down.

They are basically trying to keep him from hanging himself with the FCC rope the Bush and Obama admins created

I remember fondly the Carson/Letterman days when they had their 5 or 6 monologue political jokes, then moved on to other topics. Those guys didn't turn their own shows into their personal soapboxes or acted as conduits to full on network propaganda. There's plenty of other stuff to joke about. They all need a timeout.

It was honestly a much better way of doing things. Having every single late night show as basically Pravda for one political view (a very specific American extreme gender warrior view) is insanity, and it was only a matter of time until the dam burst. Apparently it took Kimmel skirting too close to the FCC guidelines for it to happen.

All of the old late night hosts made political jokes or comments once in a while and it was fine with everyone because it wasn't obviously converged political propaganda, and it's sad that that's what its come to

But Kimmel is practically a Johnny Carson level of talent compared to the absolute fake persona, fake laughing hyena that is a Jimmy Fallon. At least with Kimmel I believe that he believes what he says. If any of these late night bozos exemplify the chique elite vacuous Hollywood himbo mentality, it's Fallon. And leaving politics completely aside for a moment, his interviewing style is just a gibbering, fumbling display of embarrassingly extreme levels of celebrity fawning.

You'd have a point if DJT had any hand in this outside of saying Kimmel is a shitty late night host. The affiliates saw the writing on the wall. Advertisers would pull out if Kimmel was left on the air because of public backlash. They would lose money. On top of that there was the possible FCC violations. Honestly, nothing would have really come of that but it would have still been a pain in the ass the network would rather not deal with. Trump and Co. have not done anything outside what the constitution allows regardless of what the media and leftists say. If he ever actually tries he'll catch hell from the right. Honoring the constitution is one of the core values.
