Here are some teaser clips from Andy's upcoming instrumental album. As many of you guys know, Andy (a long-time member here on Rig-Talk who goes by 'van hellion') is a brilliant player with some of the best chops in the business. These clips showcase not only Andy's amazing technique, but superb writing and arranging skills as well as great tone. Andy's an up-and-comer for sure and judging by these clips, we have a lot to look forward to.

From all-out fusion shred to fast tempo redneck country to a wistful power ballad, Andy shows that he can do 'em all and do so with authority and musicality. Great job, Andy!

Amazing! Allways have been a fan of his playing wonder if he used his trusted diezel for this one.

Yes, I believe great majority of the tones are from the Diezel Herbert and Einstein. Most of the guitar work was done on the Suhr Modern. I'm sure Andy will fill us in on more details, but he's on the road now and told me that he can't remember exactly what was being used where on these tracks.

Sounds great! Makes me hunger for an Einstein and Suhr even more ha!

Sounds very cool. Those Diezel's crush. Good luck on your new release Andy.

Had the pleasure of hanging with Andy at NAMM. Him and his whole band were a bunch of down to earth good guys. The talent is off the charts for sure but he is also a dude you can have a drink with and tell jokes. RESPECT!

Andy is just mental good. Makes me want to burn my guitar, except my guitar is a Suhr and it's way too nice to burn :)

Andy is also a down to Earth rally nice guy, too.

His tunes on his myspace page are great so I'm assuming these are great too (I don't have sound on this computer). I'm looking forward to his solo cd.

Andy is an all around amazing player and great guy. I wish him all the success in the world but methinks he wont need it!! Andy ROCKS!!!

Listening to the first track now, can't wait to score this cd. Great guy with a killer attitude and I wish him everything that he wants as he deserves it.

This is called having it all, IN SPADES... Im still loving the Down From Up Album, cant wait for this one...

These sound killer. I can't wait for this album. Andy is a killer player and although I've only conversed with him on forums and via e-mail, I agree with him being just a very cool down to earth dude. I've actually heard a solo track of his, an homage to Guthrie, and it was/is absolutely killer. Gets pretty regular play on my iTunes playlist. Did he ever post that up on here?

Oh and these make me want a Suhr even more too

He seems geniunely in love with the guitar and that is going to carry him far

Plus he's disease free :D

Yeah, it's really too bad he can't play very well.........

Holy frickin' cow man...........what chops!!

I remember checking out his Suhr Badger video and having to pick my jaw off the floor then as well. Damn man.

hey guys! glad you all are diggin the tracks! im currently out on tour with Down From Up as openers for 10 years on their Division tour. i have very hit and miss internet but i just wanted to drop in and say thank you to all you guys for the kind words. i have really tried on this first instrumental record to not write tunes that sound like chops and licks over backing tracks. i have tried to write songs, which to me should be the focus, but if you have a chance to throw in a lick or 2 thats not a bad thing either ;) i hope you guys order it when it comes out, it should be ready mid to late june, that is if nothing gets tangled up while im on the road. Ed, tell john the modern is KILLING on tour, i think i might have sold a guitar or two for ya :D Cant wait to get my hands on the ones you guys are currently building for me! as a side note that photo u posted is from a recent show DFU did with Hoobastank.

as far as gear details on the instrumental record i used the bengal modern on nearly every track, with every "shred" style solo also being the modern. Its big fun having those extra 2 frets for the wankage :D amps were 95 percent Diezel herbert and einstein, with a touch of various marshall style amps thrown in for texture.

Again thank you guys for the very kind words, check the DFU myspace for tour updates and venues, if im in a town near any of you guys please come out and hang with us!

A Wood
