I got a Mark III in trade last week, so I suppose it's inevitable I would gravitate to consider getting the Mark V someday. I've been paying more attention to the small watt amps after I got my Friedman modded 20 watter last month. Being primarily a hot-rodded Marshall tone chaser, I haven't paid much attention to Mesa amps until the Mark V mini came out. Those things can really cover a lot of ground, and cover it WELL.

Is it just me or are those mids harsh sounding? Listening to it on a good pair of headphones it it's actually kind of hard to listen to.

Not to be a party pooper, but do these and the mini Rec really cut it in a full-band scenario? I have a 20-watt Krank Rev Jr. which does have the volume/loudness to work at rehearsals, but turned up THAT high, it doesn't sound the best it can. Not very many high-gain amps sound their best without some good power amp headroom, IMO.

I doubt these are bedroom rockers either, TBH.

I've watched a lot of this guys other videos, and he does tend to set things pretty bright, so I know what you are talking about. I don't mind it here or on most his other clips, as I like a fairly present tone too, but he does have a Mark V "Metallica tone settings" video where the tone is just too bright (and scooped for that matter), even for me.

When he flipped it to the extreme setting it sounded like it cut some high end off. I thought that setting added high end?

I think it has to do with bad mic placement. It looks as though he's micing the center of the cone.

I will admit that my 20 watt Friedman modded Jet City can just barely keep up in a band mix. Anything past 5 on the Master is the same maxed out volume, just more saturation. If your drummer plays insanely loud, than a 20 watt amp on it's own may not cut through. If it's mic'd up through a PA than it probably won't matter if its 1 watt or 100.

I was planning on getting the Mini Mark 25 real soon, now I just came across a mint Mark V locally for $1500! I'm torn whether to get the big dog for $200 more or get the 25. I don't gig much and I have a Mark IV if I do, kind of thought the 25 would be cool for recording w/ the cab clone.
