After this many years of being a moron, going through hundreds of guitars - I don’t really have any ā€œgrailā€ guitars I search out..

BUT! Since I was a teenager, I wanted a pastel pink Hamer Chaparral and just have never crossed paths with one, until today!

All original 1989 USA Hamer Chaparral - PASTEL PINK!

And what’s crazy, it was in driving distance which never, ever, ever happens to me.

Look like a MUCH better and sleeker guitar than the pink Strat HM I used to have.

Sweet, Hamer's are awesome.

A local shop had a quilted amber Californian Elite hanging up behind the counter for years...I was pissed he would never budge a nickel on the price.

Same story for me, except I've only played ONE USA Californian in my entire life, the only one I've ever seen in a store many years ago. They wanted too much when I was broke kid, and now as an adult, they want even more and I'm too sensible in an age when you can get a KILLER guitar for $1500 or less all day long. :dunno:

But I have a plan. Involves stalking. 🄷

I totally feel this. I've wanted a USA hammer scarab for my entire life and they just keep going up and up in price.

My only option left is stalking and theft šŸ˜‚

There are desperate people out there sometimes, their shadows searching in the night.......and they gotta pay rent. :sneaky:

I dreamed of that flamed californian with boomerangs in the guitar magazines for years…..maybe one day….
You mean like this one JBT ?

A buddy of mine found one exactly like this in one in a pawnshop for really cheap, and brought it by my house to see if I wanted to buy it.

Unfortunately it had a cracked headstock that he missed when he got it.

There was a fine long thin crack on the back of the headstock , and I just couldn’t bring myself to to take it off his hands.

I’m sure it could have been glued and it would have been fine, but it would have KILLED its resale value immensely.

Here’s what it looked like

Great guitars! Played a snakeskin chapperal for decades. It was peŕfect. The whole lineup back then was killer. They kinda got overlooked somewhat as these hit right when the jackson/ charvel/ kramer/ rage was taking over everywhere.
Nice score!!

Very similar to the one I played, including the PATBs, although it had a different finish. Very elite shred machines....🤤

Now why can't they make cool stuff like that still?
All we get nowadays are ibanez' in just two colors, Black and matte black. Or the really nice ones are one color....blue with yuk overdone inlays.
Jackson's in three colors, black, white and matte white.
I miss the good ole' days when you could walk into a guitar store and have your pick of cherry burst Ibbys with nice flame tops or custom shop ones that weren't seven thousand dollars and had cool artwork and stuff.
Jackson's and Charvels were just completely bonkers with colors and top options,etc... *sigh*
And you would think after all this time of people drooling and wanting, that Ibanez would smarten up and reissue the Voyager (Reb Beach) guitar. They wouldn't be able to keep up with the demand so many people would want them.. Sad really.

I've owned several over the years & regret selling them- keep it!

Great guitars - congrats!!!

Much congrats! Great guitars! I had a Chaparral and a Californian back in the day. Should have never sold them!
