Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

When I follow my will, I’m angry, bitter, jealous, envious, have a tendency to want revenge, and I’m impatient and anxious. I’m ready fight and argue at the drop of a hat with anyone who disagrees with me or even the perception of disrespect. When I follow my will, I want violence to get my way.

When I follow the will of God/Jesus (Jesus IS God) I experience a change. I am more prone to love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, and self control. I cannot live this way when I live like I want to. When I let Jesus take over, there is a peace and calmness that cannot be explained. It must be experienced to be believed.

It's not really bible based, but I tend to subscribe to the "Mind Over Matter" thought process. I don't mind many things, because these goofballs don't matter.

Reading this, I felt like I was looking into a mirror. I still have issues with anger sometimes, and I sometimes allow things to get to me that dwell in the temporal instead of the eternal. I have to keep asking myself, what really matters? I'm glad to say that it's way more rare these days and I don't see everyone that doesn't agree with me as the "enemy" like I used to. I attribute some of that to maturity, but also to remembering that we are all made in the image of a God that loves us and as a Christian, I'm tasked with doing two things. Love God, and love people. And by people, it doesn't just mean everyone that agrees with me or believes the same way that I do. Believe it or not, I love each and every one of you. I may not agree with you, but it's not my place to judge. Remember, when I said love people. Still means all people.

It was mentioned earlier in the thread that God doesn't care about us, and saves some and not others. God loves us all, and has provided a way through his son Jesus Christ so that we ALL can have everlasting life. It's not something that you can purchase, or do enough "good deeds", or "be a good enough person" to secure a place in Heaven. As the bible says "All have sinned, and fallen short of the glory of God". We can't make it on our own. We needed Jesus as the perfect sacrifice to die in our place in order to give us that pathway to the Father. All you have to do is accept that gift of salvation that Jesus already paid the cost for, really believe that Jesus is who he said he was and repent of your sins. It doesn't cost you anything, and this is freely available for everyone. It's not God that keeps you from being saved.

I agree with this 1000%.

Look at the pictures. The biggest jerk only made this thread to mock Christians. When he closes his eyes to this world and opens them in the next and the demons begin to pull him downward and he becomes filled with dread then he will regret those sort of things. Hopefully he finds orthodoxy before that happens.

It's amusing to me to listen to people believe far fetched BS like moon landings and trips to mars but then deny the Lord's resurrection, which is documented by the early church fathers who laid their lives down for it. Only John was not martyred. People will believe in any nonsense before they believe in Christ.

I know many people who say "if I witnessed a miracle I'd believe". There are many documented miracles, even posted to youtube, and still, like the rebellious children of Israel who were a witness to the many mighty deeds of the Lord in the 40 years wandering the wilderness, still didn't believe. Not one of them entered the holy land save for Joshua, Caleb, and their children.

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

The OP isn't entirely blasphemous as one of the biggest liars and hypocrites I've ever seen is on this site and espouses God to justify his wickedness.
Their actions do not at all align with their words.

John 2:4, John 2:9, John 4:20, James 1:22, James 2:14, Matthew 6:1, Matthew 15:8, Titus 1:16...

“For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.”

“But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.”

“If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves.”

Just curious, why did you say you hope he finds orthodoxy instead of God or Christ? Do you think other forms of Christianity don't participate in salvation? Genuinely asking, not trying to provoke or lead.

Even if I believed you to be blasphemous; at least you aren't a hypocrite in my experiences with you. Besides, I don't have time for hatred or wasting it on those who do or those who attempt to deceit or manipulate others into believing their words are anything but false and their faith anything but empty. Accordingly, God knows the true nature of the hearts of us all, the judgement doesn't come from me. Would personally be less concerned about the eventuality of your soul than many others. You aren't required to believe what I do, and you don't pretend to.

In christianity, orthodox means "correct teaching" or "right belief". In orthodoxy there are many races, cultures, and languages but we all take communion together from one cup of Christ, not separately. Therefore we are one body together in Christ and those who aren't part of that are outside of orthodoxy. I do not know how God deals with the non-orthodox, but believing christian. That's between them and God. Orthodoxy is inclusive in that it receives outsiders warmly but it is exclusive in that we do not pray, worship, or take/give communion with those outside of it.

Thanks for explaining that. One of my closest friends is orthodox, and he says many of the same things. I was curious if that was his belief or the church's, and it sounds like the latter.

No problem. And that is great to hear about your friend tbh. I'm guessing he is likely part of the eastern orthodox church be it Greek, Serb, Russian, Armenian, etc. He is likely saying the same things because our beliefs ARE the church's beliefs because we are one in Christ through the Church he founded.

Expecting even a seasoned priest to know all 2000 years of Canon law is unrealistic so we have the words, teachings, and lives of not only Christ but our holy fathers as a resource to answer these sort of questions, hence "Canon Law" i.e "a general law, rule, principle, or criterion by which something is judged."

As orthodox christians we all share a singular creed that is chanted regularly. Maybe you should consider attending a liturgy with him. As St. Andrew the first called apostle said "Come and see". I would guess you would demur but what really, do you have to lose?

I always ask you what you expected to happen but you never answer me. Did you buy your first guitar and expect to shred on it when you took it out of the case?
I don't know what I expected to happen. Maybe some help with some things I'm struggling with. But nothing happens. I asked for help. Nothing.

Why do men learn through pain and suffering, and not through pleasure and happiness? Very simply, because pleasure and happiness accustom one to satisfaction with the things given in this world, whereas pain and suffering drive one to seek a more profound happiness beyond the limitations of this world.

I am at this moment in some pain, and I call on the Name of Jesus—not necessarily to relieve the pain, but that Jesus, in Whom alone we may transcend this world, may be with me during it, and His will be done in me. But in pleasure I do not call on Him; I am content then with what I have, and I think I need no more.

And why is a philosophy of pleasure untenable?—because pleasure is impermanent and unreliable, and pain is inevitable. In pain and suffering Christ speaks to us, and thus God is kind to give them to us, yes, and [allows] evil too—for in all of these we glimpse something of what must lie beyond, if there really exists what our hearts most deeply desire.

Oh, I've been. It's not for me. It seems like orthodoxy arbitrarily draws lines in the sand akin to modern-day pharisees. For instance, you said you don't know how God deals with believing, non-orthodox Christians. I don't understand that attitude, given that scripture is very clear about how one comes to salvation. Believe in your heart, confess with your mouth. It does not say you must belong to a certain church or denomination.
