This guy is awesome. Check out the solos in these songs (I'll leave these up for a day or so):

Great solo! I wonder if he's using the ancient Rickenbacker "frying pan" lap steel that he used on all that early Jackson Browne stuff. It almost sounded like some of those notes are fretted, but he's that good on slide that I'd bet this is a lap steel performance. He and Joe Walsh caught my ear as slide players much more than Duane Allman when I growing up. Another guy I quite liked was Lowell George from Little Feat. I learned to like Duane later on, but yeah David Lindley is something else! Snappy dresser, too!

Wow, you and I like the same stuff. You must be old like me. :)

I saw Little Feat w/ Lowell George in about 1974-75. They were great.

Uuuhhh...yeah, that's what I meant!

Wow, the original Little Feat! Pretty cool. I'm a BIG fan of Bill Payne on keys, too. One of my very favorite keyboard players. That band was just loaded with talent.

No shit! We got to open for them at the local Blues & Jazz Festival in 1991. It was something I'll never forget.

Damn! Maybe I should be a big fan of YOU!! :worship: That's just too cool. Man, I'd LOVE to sit down with that Bill Payne over beers and just pick his brain for an hour, but I'd probably just sit there and stare like some sort of deaf/mute idiot.

I thought those albums they did with the Pure Prarie League guy (after Lowell's death) were pretty solid, all things considered. Not like the crap Chicago put out after Terry Kath clocked out.
