Any downside to the Voodoo Labs GCX/GCP? Alternatives?

I have a rack that needs switching, and I'm looking at the Voodoo labs stuff on their website. I've never actually seen one in person. What I need is:

- 3 latching style controls for a CAE3+
- 1 mute
- 4 loops for pedals
- the ability to add more loops (via an additional unit) down the road
- One-button switching - I step on a MIDI controller button, and all 8 functions change simultaneously

Will the Voodoo Labs stuff work for this? Any problems I'm likely to run into? Any alternatives assuming I don't want to deal with Bradshaw?

Rjm all day. Get the gcp though it's a good footswitch, unless you can wait for the rjm mastermind that is coming-out soon...

A lot, better loops, function switches, and separate audio loops, and you could buy an fx gizmo if you need extra loops. They are great products way better than the GCX, and they don't create as much noise as the GCX. IO would still go with GCP or wait until the new master mind and new Rack gizmo come out and get that whole new set-up

the RG-16 has been discontinued which was half amp gizmo half effects gizmo.

i would recommend a mark L looper but they are pricey. another option is a switchblade if you need more capabilities like channel blending. im waiting to see what RJM does with fixing their buffer ground loop hum issues in the now discontinued RG-16 - making sure it has been taken care of in their new unit coming out in ~1-2 months. im torn between two mark L loopers or two RJM products.

GCX is great but you will not get the transparency thats expected without modifying it, resale value is pretty bad. RJM products are simple to use, great layout, and dependable.

Thanks - it looks the the RG-16 and MasterMind are what I would need, but if there's new stuff coming out I may just wait for that.

the RG-16 is discontinued.

and its a problem if you dont use the buffer, there is a temporary fix by using one of your relay's and patching the buffer to IC ground, it can be done internally by modification as well. either way that model is discontinued. just an FYI post on the topic just in case you go looking for one on the used market

The RG-16 is discontinued, but the replacement is coming out within a month. It'll be even better than the last one, so no biggie.

Edit: There's one on HRI for sale for $500 shipped. I was going to buy it, but I won't have the money until next month.

I had the GCP - RG16 combo. I did not like the GCP; even with my limited use of it I had to rely on too many "midi-tricks" to let it do what I wanted and even then it never really worked as I imagined.

Apart from two broken relais in the RG16 (which was relatively easy to fix, partly due to the great customerservice from Ron) that one worked great. never had issues with the mentioned humming either.

I also had one of the Diamond/RJM switchers and that worked flawlessly also.
