Any experience with Frankenstraat?

Has he explained why he never shipped you the Floyd you ordered? Why doesn't he just ship it to you? Such a mess. So much dishonesty...

No explanation about the Floyd. I did ask though, but no explanation... Any other projects in the future will not be done with frankenstraat-parts, that's for sure... The wait is almost as long as that of a custom shop, but it's like getting the guitar you ordered, in blanks...
 
Been two weeks since I last heard from him now. Still no refund in my Paypal account, and no update on what's going on...
 
IMO, you should return all of it and get all of your money back.

I have built 2 strats using a mixture of Musikraft and Warmoth parts and both of them are awesome, fit together without any hassle and sound great.

I would recommend you do the same.
 
There has to be something that can be done, right? I mean, I know of about 20 people that have been through basically the same as I have... The more I think about this, the more aggrivated (sp?) I get. :thumbsdown:
 
I am sorry that you have to go through this, dishonesty just plain sucks esp in today's economy.
 
Hey gang, new member here. I saw this thread and had to warn you about another builder Divebomb Inc. I was so pissed off about being lied to and bullshitted by Kyle. I was seriously going to drive to Texas and deal with matters one on one.

I wanted to build a regular Charvel type of guitar. No stupid Frankie route, just a regular Charvel body and neck like Ed used on the first album. Kyle lied to me every time we communicated either by phone or by email. A few weeks after sending him my payment, I came across a very large thread where he ripped off some guy and had to go to court.

Right then, I knew I was screwed....I could feel it. Plus I could see that his work was very weak and at a novice level. Trust me, I have no time to rip on people but this guy will make you want to get physically violent. I hate liars and thieves myself, once you lie to me, I want nothing to do with you.

Kyle gave me so many excuses and lied time after time. He then started sending autoreplys saying the guitars will ship that weekend he was busy. This went on for four long months. When I sent him my money, he stated that the neck and body would be 2 to 3 weeks tops. Well four months is what it took and I was so tired of being lied to I hung in there.

He has this stupid lame trick he pulls on you when it comes to shipping. He will give you a USPS delivery confirmation notice. We all know that when you send anything Priority Mail it arrives in 2 to 3 days. Well after a few weeks I was like....WTF!!!!!!!!!!!! He assured me it was in the mail. When it did arrive, I looked at the ship date and it reflected that it was shipped the previous day. Only one day from Texas to TN.

When I opened the box, the body looked like a 10 year old built it. The vintage trem bolts were drilled for a Squire strat. I freaked, and the body was shaped so inconsistent. It was like some idiot made it and I was livid. The neck was so bad that it had to be reshaped and sanded. It had big cracks where he forced the rosewood dowels into holes that were to small. I sent him the rosewood to and he never returned it...he said he would. Once again, I despise being ripped off. My hands are shaking typing this post!

He used Titebond 3 on the fingerboard and the dark glue that was designed for outdoor Marine purposes, made the glue line stick out like a sore thumb. The worst mistake for me was the fact that he used stainless frets!!!! Without asking me. I hate the sound of them and I was Pissed beyond belief. So I email him and he tells me that neck and body were perfect. So I take a bunch of photos and he says he will redo the body. I tell him I can make the neck work.

So a few months later I get a body with that stupid Frankie route and the bridge is 1/8 of an inch to far forward. Not just the screw holes but the entire cavity was off. I am not sure how he manages to screw his products up so bad. And every I have seen someone complain, a guy will sing Kyle's praises. I could go on and on and I am a peaceful guy. Kyle pissed me off so bad I was willing to jeopardize my freedom to get my money back. I do not understand how these guys can rip off honest people and expect to get away with it.

wow,that dont sound like the kyle i did bussiness with.i bought 2 bodies and 2 necks from him.i had one neck that was warped a tad bit i sent it back to him and he sent me out a new one with no problems.my best friend bought from him too without a problem?
 
This is takin' fucking forever! Got a reply from James a month ago, but since then I haven't heard him... Still no refund in sight, either. Bleh
 
That sucks. I was moments away from buying from them. Lucky me, Steve(sah5150) told me how they were. He saved me a big head ache. Thanks for this forum.
