Any experience with Frankenstraat?

these fucking ripoff guys got the ripoff game figured out. :doh:


credit cards only allow two months of very limited protection, and guess paypal is even shorter.


the cops don't seem to give a shit about these kinds of crimes, so that leaves small claims court, then the assholes can not show up a few times before there's ever a judgement. then once you do get a judgement against them, your still trying blood out of a turnip.


that just leaves an old fashion ass whoopin, abd sure as shit if you did that you'd be the one that ended up in trouble. :doh:
 
I feel it's about time to bump this, so people can read about this asswipe. He's still ignoring me, and have not given me my money back. He told me several times he would straighten it out though, but it's now been 14 months.

It's almost worth taking a trip to the US....

It sucks to hear that stuff. you always hope all transaction put a smile on your face but i guess the bad ones are out there. Now these forums help people to make better decisions.

oh, who is this guy? Sorry if it is a noob question but don't know who it is that maybe someday I should be careful of.

edit: after searching around the net seems that some other places have a poor opinion of this guy...
I would guess that the more boards you post your experience to the more people will read the more people will be inclined to stay away the more likely he will have to find another job to make ends meet and save a bunch of people the stress of having to deal with him

What I didn't gather from previous posts..did you actually send the stuff back? I know you didn't get the Floyd so automatically you're entitled to a refund for that but if you didn't send the body and neck back I don't think you have any recourse on those.
 
Can I ask you guys who bought from Frankenstraat or Divebomb a question - why not go with Warmoth or USACG or somebody with a better rep? Is it because Frank and DB sell things that Warmoth doesn't? Are they cheaper?

Well, I wanted to send the body back, and James said he would reimburse my shipping. Never got an adresse I could send to, and I never got the money it would cost me to ship him the body. No way I'm sending this body to him before I atleast get the cash for the shipping. I would also assume getting my money back for the floyd was normal procedure. Neck seems okay, but haven't test-fitted it yet. It wasn't birdseye maple as ordered, though.... Plain maple. Fretboard is some sort of darker birdseye maple.

Because at the time, from what I read on James' site, and what he said, he could deliver my stuff faster than Warmoth. From now on, only well known manufacturers for me...
 
Wow what an asshole this guy is! I hope you get something out of this, but doesn't look good unfortunately. I hope this guy also gets what he deserves :gethim:
 
Any forum members near Neptune NJ that would pop in on this guy and ask him to refund Tommy's money pronto?
 
A Monday bump for this thread

Here's the last I heard from James, over 4 months ago:

"We're gonna resolve this Monday Tommy. I'm not sure if you realize how much damage you caused by creating the posts on my site and the other one. Unfortunately it caused near $2000.00 in refunds from other customers and I'm just about near complete with putting out those fires. On Monday I am sending you the paypal to get that body back, once it gets here I will refund the bridge I owe and send the new body back to you."

Ever since then he's been ignoring me :thumbsup:

I just can't let this thread die and decade :D
 
I have a problem with "I'm not sure if you realize how much damage you caused...." It would seem that the damage could have been avoided by himself if he had refunded the money or at least made the repairs and put it as a high priority. so I cant believe he cant see the damage he has done to himself. If you screw enough people over someone will at some point stand up and not put up with it any more.

just something about that statement he made really grinds me the wrong way.

I say keep bumping the thread every week with updates until you get the guitar you ordered proper or your money back.
(my vote is to just get your money back at this point as well)

It's about damn time you hold you promise, and do what's right. How can I have caused damage? Not my fault you can't hold promises, now is it?

Seems like too many small instrument makers live hand-to-mouth. So they can't start on your guitar neck until you pay them for the guitar neck, because they're broke. Then they screw up somehow and can't give you your money back because they used your money to pay for the now-worthless guitar neck (and whatever else they spent it on). When it snowballs I guess it's no surprise that people are stuck for years with no product and/or no refund.

Maybe we should all stick to people who only have product ready to ship or who only require a small, refundable deposit for custom work and put all the rest of these jokers out of business??

Word. Or at least someone that has a good reputation. I'm never gonna spend a fucking dime on someone I'm not 100 % sure on ever again. But then again, as it looks now, I'm not gonna spend a dime on anything but Suhrs :D
