I saw this guitar on ebay and did some research on the builder and was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on GMW guitars. Not too many videos I could find on them. Seems like he can build just about anything you want.

As long as you like his head stocks, Lee at GMW is pretty open. I've owned a ton of GMWs. Great guitars and Lee has always been straight with me and delivered on time.

how can someone like a guitar painted like captain america!!!

Lee builds some awesome guitars and is great to work with. He was essentially building "Charvels" until FMIC purchased the brand and stopped him. He now has his own headstocks but the guitars are still Charvel/Jackson inspired for the most part. Best "bang for the buck" out there for a US hand-made super strat IMO.

I have gone through probably 20-25.. only sold because of $$ situations, NOT because of any issues with the guitars or Lee.
I still own 2, and will have a 3rd before year end. Love 'em...

He also has some on his site ready to go.. along the same type of paintjobs

I'm going to assume you meant "how could someone NOT like" the guitar. :gethim:

I have had a bunch of them. Great guitars and Lee in one hell of a great guy to deal with. But the resale value on the newer headstock guitars is HORRIBLE. Im just saying you better make sure you love the guitar and are going to keep it.

Only $2500 for a flamed koa top and solid koa neck? I'm in love.

What's wrong with the headstock? It's one of the nicer ones I've seen. Who really wants to see another Fender knock-off?

Wait a minute.... I'm talking to Charvel Central (RT)

I have multiple GMW guitars and they are a great bang for the buck, great quality and killer players. Lee has Dan Lawrence do the graphic work if you are interested in something other than a solid color paint. Great guy to deal with too.

Many of us here were buying these 7-8 years ago when Lee could still use the strathead ;)

That one smokes any Lynch model out there imo, too bad that when I was going to sell it people could not get past a silly sticker on the headstock ;)

Can't he atleast do the bannana headstock? That headstock is f_cking horrible. Ruins some perfectly cool guitars. Terrible... really really bad. I hope he is reading this. I purchased a a custom axe and all he did was take a small notch out of fender headstock and it looks just fine. There are ways around that licensing issue... hell, do the washburn sized head and alter it slightly or do the Suhr headstock like those Gary Kramers have. But that headstock jesus..

From the looks of them, John Suhr and Tom Anderson took inspiration for their headstock design from the early 80's Kramers.

And oh yeah, the GMW headstocks are complete dealbreakers IMO.

I don't like Fender headstocks. I'm more of a Jackson guy, which is why I actually prefer the new design. G&L and Suhr headstocks are nice. I don't like Andersons as much.

I like the new headstocks better than the Charvel ones, but then again, everybody knows I like pointy guitars. :D

I own one of Lee's newer headstock designs and it is a superb player (paid ~$1400 new). But the strathead run by Lee is what he was known for. Those guitars were built to exact Charvel specs using the old original San Dimas templates as well as "hands". In fact, they are more "Charvel" then even the new FMIC Charvels, other than maybe the Custom Shop stuff being done by the master builders

Didn't they initially buy their parts from Schecter?
