Any Fractal VP4 Guinea Pigs?

I'm looking hard at the VP4 and the HX Effects. I'm leading toward the Fractal for simplicity. I don't really need presets with a gazillion blocks, just the meat and potatoes. EQ, reverb, delay, and modulation, (mostly chorus, occasional flange, maybe a good univibe, and pitch shift/harmonizer for Andy Larocque type lead work)..

As an "I will never submit to fractal" guy, I do not regret thr VP4 at all. Incredible unit and easy to use.

Pretty much sold all of my time based / loop pedals. Just keep a gate, and 2 drive pedals on my board as I havent gotten around to dialing those in on thr VP4 yet. No more tap dancing, no complex pedal board wiring. I can switch fx positions and settings, have 3 different delays or reverbs on different scenes. Its been life changing in a good way

Also interested in this. I’m not much of a pedal person. I stick to the basics like reverb, delay, boost, and EQ, and I prefer simple pedals I can set once and forget. I’ve always gravitated toward multi-effects units because I don’t enjoy building pedalboards and I like a smaller footprint. Is the VP4 essentially the Axe-FX effects packaged into a compact multi-effects unit? I love my AxeFX.

For the most part yes, effects are the same. Each preset also has its own graphic EQ. There's also a graphic and parametric EQ block. You can keep the gate on at all times or use the EQ in presets without wasting 2 blocks. FX sound great and the interface is really easy to use.

the vp4 and hx fx were the main candidate a for me as well and for the same reasons. I went with the vp4 because I already have an axe fx and I love its fx so I went with it. I have to admit it’s light years simpler that its big brother and it really is a very cool sounding unit. I love it in 4cm with my amps.

What do people think about the transparency of the VP4? Do you notice it changing the feel or tone when you run it in series?

I’ve had my VP4 units for more than a year now. They have been outstanding and super easy to use! I run one of them in 4CM with my x88-IR or my Slo100r and no tone suck or other weirdness. My other is used with the SLO plus pedal for my backup and rehearsals.
