Are there any G&L lovers/haters on this board? Prefer Fenders? Why/why not?

thanks!

I love them. Never played one I didn't like. I think they're generally better built than Fenders.

I love my Invader. It has that G&L "snap" to it, and the neck feels great. Flat radius fingerboard, and the neck has a bit of meat to it which I like coming from a LP background.

I've compared a couple new G&L Legacy models to newer U.S. Strats and I like them both for different reasons. I feel that there's a certain response that G&L's have. They're woody and snappy and feel great to play. The Fenders weren't far off, but the necks seem less consistent. I've been dissappointed with Fender necks on several occasions. Some play like butter while some have rough edges (frets sticking out past sides of neck) Never had this issue with G&L.

The standard and deluxe strats I tested were Alder if I remember correctly and one of the Legacies was Alder, while one was Ash.

Never had another tele in my hands that comes close to my ASAT Classic:

This one was built in '94 and I love this guitar.

I have two of the Cantrell Signature's made in USA. They are great guitars compared to others. They maintain tuning and are very predictable. They are a little bright though. I changed the volume pot in the first and slapped an MCP Afwayu in it. Going to do the same to the 2nd one when I get around to it.

I have a prototype JC2 Rampage. I really tried to hate it, but it plays flawless and the tuning stability is on. I like them alot now. Awesome guitars!!

are those the cantrell model? if so, are they the expensive one or the less expensive one?

One with the 4 bolt neck plate is a 99 USA custom creations, middle 3 bolt neck is one is a one off prototype made for Jerry in 96-97 and finally a original 3 bot neck plate 85 like Jerry's real one.

G&L has not used 3 bolts neck plates since 97.

A while ago a member here was selling these 2 Tele's,at the time i couldn't buy one,so about a month ago i finally ordered the transparent black, with no inlays. And looking forward to it,more than any other guitar i've ordered.

i played a legacy special today. i was really hoping it would be my new guitar: dark blue, white pickguard, black rail pickups, maple board. BUT, it was at guitar center. the neck felt great, but it was dinged up and the chrome was quite pitted. It seemed cool, but not for $899. I'd like to find one in better shape. I can see myself owning one.

have you guys had issues with the chrome pitting? i read somewhere that it is an issue with G&ls.

Thanks

Dude, that's almost exactly what I would order if I got a custom tele style guitar. I love guitars with no inlays too BTW.

mans that's awesome that you are getting one of these because I've been looking at em and its hard to find someone that owns one. I was thinking about one but was wondering how it would compare to a les paul because that's the sound im into, and since G&L also has mahogany/maple combo im thinking they would sound similar. Please compare this soundwise to one of your les pauls when you get it.
