this review of the indo tele is dead accurate to my experience

and on a positive tonex note,
4 of my 6 presets i efited from yesterday still sound pretty good today!

my tyler is shippng home this week. maybe i’ll have a better handle on the tonex and be willing to spring for the 78/79 pack once i audition the presets with my tyler and determine i’m on the right track.

What’s more “hot rod” than a single pup tele loaded with a Fralin SP43 (P90)?

manly—ditch the switch!
But the switch gives me wide open and pushed to the front gives me that cocked wah sound.
I don't actually really use those positions though.

Id say you're right, but then my OCD would kick my ass with that open slot from the switch, or even worse, keep the switch that does nothing...

before i went to town with the paint, sanding etc i brought it to GC and played a bunch of $1.5-3k american teles and although i know they slap heavy strings on and don’t put much into setups, my gtr played better than the majority i tried and was relatively indistinguishable in tone from the rest.

i may go graphtech saddles and string tree, black fender locking tuners, and that vega tele trem looks very fun!

That Vega would be next level dude.

my tele hero!

I remember seeing this way back in the day as Austin city limits was pretty much my only access to live music in BF egypt at the time so saturday night at 9pm I'd tune in. The jam at 12:20 has stuck in my mind ever since. Then the beer bottle & towel stunts at the end. Dude was mad talented. I've watched it many times since. RIP!!!

my friend lived in virginia and would see danny as often as he could. one night he brought his 75 tele on for danny to sign and caught him after a set to ask. danny took my friend and the tele to his dressing room and played it for a few seconds, asked if he could do some things to it.

he then began wrenching on the saddles and physically bending the ends, loosened the neck screws a bit then cranked on it with a crack and retightened, adjusting intonation, action, truss rod, explaining everything he was doing as my friend sat in awe. said that dog outta hunt and tossed it back to him. walked out and my friend was blown away at the difference in playability.

so bummed i missed my one and only chance to see danny live😞

Heh, nice! A free setup by Mr. Gatton himself!!

I think Danny used those Joe Barden blade pickups. Bright, tons of bite, like a sledgehammer with an ice pick on the tip but listen how awesome his tone sits on top of that big band, beautiful!!!

the mastery he demonstrated in this song on his instructional video is what really won me over as a fan

i spoke to his mom Norma on the phone after he passed and she shared the details leading up to his decision to take his own life and it was just so tragic and unnecessary. what a loss. up there with Shawn Lane and Allan Holdsworth imo.

Agreed. Major loss.

I'm gonna have to give that video a full length listen one of these days. Definitely a lot to absorb!

just that one song and the lesson he gives with it was super influential to me. his tone may not have been my fav but he gets a pass!

I'm guessing the tone was somewhat necessary considering the detail involved with his chording style. Def too bright for my tastes but it sure works great for Danny!

vince gill and brent mason tones are more my preference although honestly i’m kinda blank slating it on this one. and my rack rig is so specifically tuned around my tyler that the tele sounds weird to me plugged into it.

a tele needs its own space and i’m thinking the gtr will lead me to the amp it wants to be paired with. so far the leading candidates are twin and princeton.

Get two Twins so you can tell people you have twin twins. You're starting to put the aloha into my head cause I stayed up late last night looking at cheap ass squier classic vibe teles and expensive ass parts to mod them with. Yo dawg, I can't afford this shit right now :cheers::LOL:

I've always dug this clip. Cool instrumental, good tone and playing by Guthrie Trapp who is a Nashville regular.

mahalo, dear friend🤣

twin twins has a catchy ring to it and was a stereo go to for no namers like ej and holdsworth…🤣
that danny gatton secret love chord melody always inspires me to play more clean linear stuff and veer away from gainier tone and shreddy bendy world.

another tasty tele cat with a cool surprise find story
