Carl - you've had some killer clips through great gear over the years, if memory serves (and a lot of non-boutiquey stuff too like YJM, Vintage Modern, JVM Satriani, etc.)....

Yeah! I was looking at some old clips on my YT and saw my old Marshall Jubilee RI, Vintage Modern, Ceriatone 50. Had the YJM 100, the JVM, the Satriani JVM, Marshall 1959HW, Rockitt Retro, and more I forgot.
I do think, at some point, the sound/tone you get is in the hands.....to a degree. You listen and learn from all your influences, but the end goal is to have your own style.

This point really gets driven home with a modeler. I have 4 primary lead presets: Mesa, Omega, Soldano, Bogner
When I'm paying attention I can clearly hear the differences and they're all #1s for a good reason.

I don't know how many times I've been lost completely in playing and have to double check which one I'm on.
Damned if I can tell a difference when the paws take control.

That's why I mainly use a $300 Randall RG100ES. I sound the same through it as I do with any other amp.
