I just spent almost an hour on my N4. What an absolute blast to play on. Small but punchy. Light but resonant. Great neck. Very comfortable. Plus there is nothing else that looks like them. If you haven't played on one yet give one a try.

Yeah they are pretty cool. I've got a NX6, a N4 (paduak with BN Holydiver),and a N6 (?)-H-s-s. Although I may sell a couple as my taste change periodically (current flavor of the month is a Charvel snakeskin Demartini). If your a true fan then no doubt you've seen the Davies reissues, the snakeskin (Real snakeskin), and Koa and Korina models on ebay.

Just threw a WCR Godwood in the bridge of mine, sounds great

If I had one wish, it would be a bigger neck, but that's a recent thing for me.

Overall a killer and under rated guitar

That's one guitar I don't think I'd swap out pickups on. I think the Bill Lawrence was a big part of why that guitar sounds the way it does.

Love mine. I bought it back in 93' around the time they first came out. I got to open for Nuno several years ago when he was doing his solo thing and got him to autograph it. I've retired it now to hang on a wall in a display case.

I'm not a fan of the look of the N4, but I bet it plays and sounds great. My X50 is a great guitar for the price so I can imagine how nice the higher end Washburns are.

Love mine...just wish it hadn't needed the frets re-doing so early in it's life..it's still not near 100% but it sounds fantastic so I don't want to fuck with it again.

..oh and I put in a real Bill & Becky pickup and it sounds much more betterer than the stock one :-)

What an incredible guitar. We got to review the mother of all N4s... the XX. Wow. It's a shame that it's priced in collector's territory because it's one of the most fantastic playing guitars. I love the Steven's neck. Wow. Wish all my guitars could have a neck joint like that.

Here's our in-depth review:

I have the swamp ash N4 and I agree whole heartedly with what was said about the N4 though. The truss rod is kinda hard to get to. I'm to the point where I might remove the 4 neck pickup screws and carefully move the pickup off to the side and make my adjustment. aAlso the treble strings can be a little thin sounding but like you mention this is also what gives it it's percussive atteck. This is a very punchy sounding guitar.

I love that guitar and have always wanted one. I have played Josh's (jcj) and I like it. As far as the BL pickups, I read somewhere they are inconsistent pickup from pickup. I believe the Stephen's cutaway is what made the guitar along with that small body. Excellent instrument and i hope to get one one day.

From time to time they'll put out a mohogany body with a maple top. I want to try one of those. Sometimes you'll see a korina version. Also want to try the creme N6.
