Very unscientific, but here are some clips:
First, all the controls on both amps were set the same on the lead channel. Here are the pics:
Here are the raw, non-EQ'd clips. these are straight from the 57 on my Diezel 4x12 into the DAW. I lowered the waveform volume of the 100 watt to closely match the 50. At the same volume knob setting, the 50 was quieter (obviously).
Limiter is added on the master buss to get proper levels.
50 watt:
100 watt:
The 50 watt is definitely brighter comparatively.
Now,
here they are with a little bit of EQ in my DAW...Still the same miked tones. These to me sound pretty much the same:
50 watt:
100 watt:
Mic was placed with using the 50 watt, so I'm sure that plays into it some, but overall I love both amps. the 50 watt's brightness makes it sit easier with less EQ overall. It also gets just as thick, but doesn't quite have the bark in the mids that the 100 watt has.

I don't doubt it has enough gain, but whether it whether it stays tight and has that sort of presence with a percussive edge will decide whether I start gunning for one. For 1000 it seems perfect for a mostly bedroom player. It even has and shorting speaker outputs to use without a connected cabinet, using the line out for impulses if I need silence.
The closest store with one is about an hour away. I might to take a weekend trip soon.
^This sounds like a dream amp! GAS levels increasing!ericsabbath":20e46clk said:the 5150III is a 5150 with more Soldano DNA (the peavey already has a lot of the SLO circuit, but not close enough to sound similar)
it should have better dynamics and clarity than the peavey, more like a 50w Soldano, but similar amounts of gain to the Peavey
