Both the SS and the X sounded good enough yesterday that I want one of them. Probably the SS because the clean channel was dynamite and when Steve switched between the channels the transition was very natural. He described why he likes it and it was perfect, saying that most amps sound like you're punching in with a clean tone when you switch channels.
The SS definitely doesn't sound like that.

though i love the gain on the SS, the clean on it is shockingly good...i couldnt believe how much i liked just the cleans

The full clean on the current BE is top shelf imo...fantastic.
The Cantrell model has a mid knob on the clean...not sure if the Phil X or SS models have it though...

I was actually changing between the Friedman amps when Josh was playing. When I switch over to the JJ...Wow!
I was very impressed with the Dirty Shirley. That thing has more gain then I have heard on any clips. Very good amp that bloomed on chords.

Yeah, I was impressed as well, Ozzy, McCartney, Zep, all sounded really good. Was the SD 78 being used there?, that's what it said on the info,, seemed to do pretty good with the various tunes.
