I'm in the market for a 2x12. I'd wouldn't mine a Friedman 2x12 but I kind of want to stay married a little bit longer lol.

Stopped my the local shop this morning and there is a used PRS 2x12 closed back Pine wood for $495. I don't know too much about PRS cabs and was wondering if anyone here had any insight on them. I plan on pairing it with my Pink Taco playing primarily hard rock/metal/thrash.

There is also a Mesa 2x12 compact vertical cab on craigslist for $500 or could I save up and buy a Friedman 2x12. Are the Friedman cabs really that good? PRS can't be too shabby right?

Thanks!

I don't know about them from personal experience but someone on here said that PRS has some proprietary method with their V30s where they take the extra glue off of them. Not sure if that means the glue on the spider support or the doping on the speaker cone edge. I'm sure their cabs have to be decent at least judging by the attention to detail in their guitars.

Everyone that I know who has one loves those cabs, especially for the price! Good deal! Grab it and enjoy!

-I love pine cabs!!

-I have an old pine FENDER BASS MAN that was originally a 2x15, I put a new baffle in it, now its a 4x12, no matter what speakers I put in it,.. No matter what head I throw on top of it, it always sounds awesome!! Its the one piece of gear that I would grab if the house was on fire-

I haven't played a pine PRS cab, but my birch big mouth PRS 2x12 sounds great! I like it enough that I'm going to get a 4x12 to match. Everyone I know that has one of those pine cabs though absolutely loves it.

Same here. I love my Bigmouth 2x12. Fantastic cab. Definitely get it for that price.

Thanks guys, I think I'm going to go for it tomorrow.

I'll bring my head to test it out first too but hearing good things from you guys also helps.

UPDATE:
So I went in the local shop today, brought my head with me and tried out the PRS cab... It sounded pretty damn good. Had my buddy play the main "Battery" riff over and over while I switched between the PRS 2x12 and a larger Bogner 2x12. The PRS sounded better for metal, it sort of has a natural scoop effect and the Bogner sounded best for classic rock.

So I was sold on the PRS and then the shop owner asked if I want to try a 3x12 cab... I was like "what?". He rolls out this white 3rd Power Amplification cab that has a triangle shaped removable port on the back. I never seen anything like it. Plugged it in and it sounded pretty damn amazing and that was with the triangle back opened. We closed it up and it sounded just a tad tighter on the bottom end. My buddy thought it sounded better than the Friedman 4x12 I tested for shits and giggles.

Long story short, I now own a 3x12 cab hehe... here is a pic -> https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=D ... hoto%2cjpg

Thanks to all that replied!

DUUUUUUDE...those 3rd Power 3x12 cabs sound AWESOME! I played a Friedman Naked head thru one at a guy's house once. Ridonkulous great sound. Big time congrats. Maybe THE best cab I've played thru.
