Bravedude2 on here has a Aor ann. The white ones. They can be modded to a JCM800 by changing a couple of resisters. I will see if I can find My folder with the mod. It is very simple.

i have the 20th anniversary head, and it's OK. i don't have a jcm 800 too play side by side but it's kinda small sounding but thick if that makes sense.

Weird. Did I sell you that white Laney? I had one exactly like that. It did sound a lot like a JCM 800 only like something was missing.

lotta gain on it's own? have you boosted it?

i has a lot of gain but it sounds compressed. the bass boost works fine and is very noticeable. the mid and treble boost (all 3 push/pull) it really roars with a crybaby in front of it. i bought that amp in 1987 in whittier california.

Have you considered a Sovtek Mig 60 or Peavey Butcher? Those are supposed to be in the JCM800 ballpark and probably could be modded to get even closer. I had a Sovtek Mig 60, nice name, great crunch on that one....
