Anybody know if the Ground Control Pro can do this?

Hi fellas,

I'll try and make this succinct!

I'm currently controlling one Lexicon mpx-1 and a CAE 4x4 switcher in a w/d/w setup with the cheapo PEAK 2005 4 switch midi pedal. I've got 4 presets per bank each sending 1 program change for the Lexicon and 8 CC's for the CAE (4 loop and 4 amp channel switch) messages on 8 different controllers with a value of 0 or 127 to turn the switches on and off. Works perfectly....the PEAK can send 4 program changes and 8 CCs per preset switch. Problem is I want more switches in front of me so I don't have to change banks...9 would be perfect!

So I bought a GCP...thinking it could do anything...and have been pulling my hair out trying to get it to work like the Peak.

So the question is....can the GCP have 9 switches (presets) that send 1 PC and 8CC's on 8 different controllers with a value of either 0 or 127?
Completely don't understand the instant access switches on the banks of 4...which it seems would not advance me in any way as I already have 4....would like to use the 10 bank mode + CC's.

Hopefully I didn't just buy a 400 dollar door stop....garage door stop...friggin' thing is humongous.
Appreciate any help someone who knows this unit could be.

Thanks!!!!

Your post is a little confusing....The 4/10 preset bank option has nothing to do with how many devices you can have or what message you can send, just on how the preset switches/instant access buttons are physically oriented. On the GCP you can do MORE than what you're asking. You can have: 8 program change midi messages/8x instant access CC# controllers(those tied to a IA Switch)/32x CC# on/off controllers that can be sent on a preset basis without an IA switch(in the expanders section) PER PRESET.

The GCP can do MORE than what you're wanting.

Thanks purple....that's great to know! I read the manual but am just confused with the way it's layed out. You got me pointed in the right direction....thanks!!!!!!

NP, the GCP is a great product....far exceeds your previous pedal. You made a good choice to buy it, and Voodoo Lab has great support and will take care of any issues should they arise(never had a problem with their products).....I suggest you join the Voodoo Lab forum if you haven't already. The support their from the staff is top notch and can answer any tech questions you may have.

GCP = Great product for a great price.

Posting your setup and what you're trying to achieve and I can further help you. On your CAE you have four loops dedicated to amp switching, and the other 4 loops doing routing/pedals?

How many continuous controllers are you using in the MPX-1?(also have an mpx-1)

Man! super kind...I'm in your debt  The GCP setup isn't as straight forward as the Peak so it confuses me a bit...between GCX settings and expanders...can't figure out which setup applies to me and can run with 10 presets.

As of now...I am only using program changes on the MPX-1 which runs in only the two wet cabs. I only use reverb, delay and sometimes chorus depending on it being clean, Rhythm or lead. It's never really that wet...just enough fx to thicken things up and add a slight stereo image when recording. Suppose if I ran CC's with it I could use the same preset and just turn the different fx on or off...but it works with program change, the always dry signal masks any slight gaps between preset changes and I wanted to keep it simple since I'm not that great with midi.

The guitar runs into the CAE and the four loops turn on, off and combine three different overdrive pedals and a parametric eq....then out to the amp. I'm only using two of the four relay controls for amp switching.

The current setup is each preset sends one program change to the Lexicon and 6 CC's to the CAE. The CC message is on/off (127/0) on the 6 predesignated control channels:

L1 control #13
L2 control #14
L3 control #15
L4 control #16
C1 control #9
C2 control #10

It's actually a simple setup......I set the midi pedal up this way cause it's what finally worked and I know just enough about midi to be dangerous. It's worked great for a while...just wanted more physical preset switches in front of me. Hopefully none of my terminology is wrong or confusing. I'm really stoked the GCP will work...I like the board a lot and really love the spacing between switches.

Thanks a ton for helping me out!
