I like the old Bob Newhart show with Suzanne Pleshette.

I may be somewhat paraphrasing, but it has to be 30 years since I saw that show.


Emily- It was a pack of birds.

Bob- Birds travel in flocks.

Emily- Well something travels in packs.

Bob- I think they're called cigarettes Emily.

I dont think Ive seen that show since the late 80s or very early 90s. Bob Newhart, murder she wrote, masterpiece theater....quantum leap ugh lol. Shows like those are why i dont own a tv set although Newhart wasnt bad by comparison.

Yeah I hate that show. I was living with my grandpa at the time going to school. Watching a show like that was based around extreme boredom so I'm biased against it, LOL.

Only vaguely. I haven't owned a TV since 2009 in part because I spent a lot of my youth without one, and learned to find other things to do instead. We didn't get cable tv until I was in high school so what was mostly on TV wasn't something I would watch much of.

Right. The show with i dream of genie guy was the original show.
They were both funny shows from what i can remember.

I remember Newhart's beginning, a vinyl album i think: he was Sir Walter Raleigh on a telephone call to the king of England, explaining tobacco and its uses. Even as a kid it cracked me up.

It's been too long since I saw it on grandpa's fuzzy old USA Zenith to remember anything but the dials on his TV having some serious detent to them. You could hear a person changing channels from the next room over even with the volume down.
