Anybody running EL34's in their Randall Diavlo RD45/100?

I hear mixed response, as to whether this is safe? Man, I'd like to hear KT77's! I have some JJ 6CA7's, and Svetlana EL34's as well.

well, the rd45h replaced the rd50h and randall made only one lot of the fortin modded rd50 before officially launching the rd45, and that lot was sold after the new diavlo series was already announced
I don't think there would be a point in selling a modded lot of rd50's if they had a different sound from the upcoming model
I opened the fortin rd50 and it was in fact modded, but maybe Mike did some upgrades on the rd45 that wouldn't be worth to be done on the old version circuit board
my modded rd50 sounded close to the new rd45 clips I've seen, but obviously much better in person
I do believe they're most likely to have the same circuit

and the qualities of the old version aren't just on Mike's account
Randall did a great job with some project details in the original model, like the chassis vents, the cooling fan, the high quality anodized brushed aluminum panel, heavy duty switches and high quality courvin
everything looks quite solid, which was a surprise to me, as the randalls from the entire last decade were pure trouble
if they make a single channel british voiced amp, I'll definitely buy one (I bought the rd50 for resale, so I couldn't keep it)

back to the tubes, you'll probably need to rebias, but I doubt you'll hurt the amp by going from 6l6 to el34's
you'llably prob have a coldish bias, which is common for factory stock tubes

I'm going to try some Svetlana EL34's. I'll report back.

The 50 has the same preamp as the 45, but the power amp is different. The 50 is cathode biased, so you can pop in any (more or less) octal socket tube. Mine got a set of TAD 6L6 and a speaker swap right away. The 50 requires a bias adjustment if you wanna change power tubes. The 50 sounds killer, and I can only image the 45 And 100 sounding even more killer, being tweaked more by Mike

You would have to check how the tube sockets are wired.
