Anybody tried the 'S2' PRS guitars?

I'm tempted to grab a solid colour singlecut, so am just looking for some input on these..

I don't like the flat contour/top myself. Haven't seen how much they are going for used, but right now if I could get a used 'other' model PRS for the same amount as a new S2, I'd buy used. Just what I'm used to I guess.

Ah I didn't even notice that - I'm no PRS expert (apparently that's now obvious LOL) so didn't even stop to think they'd have changed the carving on the top..

Me too, I also don't like the cheap hardware they use on them. I would rather see the SE's with usa hardware than the ugly S2's.

The hardware is a bummer. I can get the SC S2 model for $1150 out the door but then I've got to tack on $400 for pickups, tuners and bridge. May as well get a used SC245

I don't entirely get the mass-production market. I've said it before. You can pick up 2nd hand versions of the genuine article for roughly the same price.
The 1000 series Korean LTD guitars, for example, cost around the same, brand new, as a 2nd hand Japanese ESP.
It's always worth digging a little deeper I think.

I have to agree with you on this one. I have bought and modded two SEs and both would have been a much better experience had they just been in need of a pickup swap rather than an overhaul.

I like the look and contours of the s2 much better. I'm not a fan of the deep maple tops and all the binding. They're almost gaudy. If they made an s2 7 string with jumbo frets I would buy one the day it was available.
