Anybody try the BKP Silo yet. Alnico V @ 15.7k ohms. Any good?

I have a Silo bridge.....one of my fav BK pickups now, Ive tried most of them. Silo is balanced with a nice character that works equally well for rhythm and lead in the bridge position. It reminds me of the Crawler but more modern sounding.

Hmm what else..... Its thick and smooth on the highs but still has enough bite and tight bass for modern riffing. Has weight to the high notes never sounding thin. Its a versatile pickup that might change someones mind about BK pickups being dry or having extreeme eq qurves.

I just bought a set of Ragnaroks. Coming tomorrow it seems.

Based on a friends experience they’re the best ones he ever tried for low tuned high gain.

Cool, the silo bridge shares some similarity with the ragnarok. They both have thick bass and midrange with relaxed highs, neither one is a bright pickup. The ragnarok is bit more dry and modern though in comparison to the more organic and less clinical tone and feel of the silo. It makes sense that your friend digs the ragnarok for low tunings as it will keep the lowend really tight and has lots of overall clarity.

Ive been using a MCP Detroiter for years now and maybe wanted to try something a little different. I was thinking high resistance with an A5 mag. Its going in a PRS McCarty singlecut, mahogany body and neck. So its already a dark thick sounding guitar. Playing a bogner (fish, dark with smooth mids and highs too), I think with your guys description I may want something a little more abrasive in the mids and highs.

Thanks

Gotta give it a shot. Was also curious of their cheaper Brute Force, etc. I play thrash metal and have a Ceramic Painkiller in the bridge of my LP trad. And a Nailbomb in the bridge if my standard.

The Silo sounds interesting. Thanks, I haven’t checked out BKP in a while, been pretty content with what I’ve been using. But I just ordered a Caparison Horus and will probably look to replace the Caparison pickups.

With the description of your guitar and amp I think you might be right. The Silo could work well but if you want something a little brighter with more cut possibly the new True Grit pickup would do you well, I have one and it is more aggressive and not as thick as the Silo..... An Emerald or Rebell Yell would be even brighter and could work for you.

I have a Brute Force in my Hufschmid guitar now and it is perfect for thrash, it has tight bass and a ripping mid range, high output but not supper compressed feeling , does that galloping riff type stuff nicely.

I just ordered a Holy Diver. I was curious about the Silo, but not convinced without trying it.

Awesome. I think I’m gonna snag one to try out. Thanks
